The simplest thing can often be the most powerful. 🙂🙃
We never know who’s day we will make from smiling when that smile was all they needed.

The world needs more smiles right now, both given and received.

Neurotransmitters called endorphins are released when you smile. ... Faking a smile or laugh works as well as the real thing—the brain doesn't differentiate between real or fake as it interprets the positioning of the facial muscles in the same way. This is known as the facial feedback hypothesis & can be used for what I call a ‘Smile Meditation’.

A Smile Meditation is a simple biohack to change your low mood when you don’t feel like smiling.

Sit for a few minutes close your eyes breath deeply and put a smile on your face.
Wait for the endorphins to be released as your physiology tricks your brain.

Shift your mood with a fake smile.
&
Shift someone else’s day with a real one.

Just a thought 🤘🏻…

We can often fall into the trap of the tougher experiences in our life leading to our own doubts and fears in life going forward.
We forget that the experiences we have as individuals, even when someone else may have gone through a similar experience themselves, are totally unique to us as a person.

What this means is that you are the only person in the whole world - out of nearly 8 billion people - that has gone through the exact events and emotional experiences that you have.
The tiny interactions and reactions that change between each ‘character’ in a scenario are what makes that event experience unique to that one person.
The lessons we learn, the gifts we can develop from it and then the emotional awareness we can then choose to evolve from it.

What you can then do with that web of experiences is then also totally unique to anyone else - if you allow yourself to use it.

Don’t think of life’s harsh experiences as your hindrance.
Think of them as the key to your uniqueness and ask yourself what can you do with all you have learnt from them?
What can you do that no one else can, due to the unique experiences you as an individual have had and subsequent strengths, perspectives and gifts you, and only you, now hold.

Let today be one of those kind of days ✨

6 years ago I first discovered Reiki as a way to help myself through a time of grief and extreme stress.
I had no idea what my therapist was talking about when she suggested that I try the Reiki Practitioner in the building, as nothing seemed to be helping.
I was so exhausted by life that I was willing to try anything at that point just to feel like myself again.

I had no idea how powerful it would be for removing the feeling of an elephant being sat on my chest from grief, let alone that that session would be the catalyst for me studying various energy modalities myself and using them within my coaching.

I left 4 years between doing my initial levels of Reiki and my Masters - when I think about what has changed both in & around me during that time, I can't believe it.

In Reiki we say that the Reiki Master is not the one who knows more than others but the one who can truly listen to others.

For me that is as much about listening to people's energy and spirit - as it is about listening to the words they are speaking.

Becoming a Reiki Master was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life and I am so excited to be able to bring all of these advanced parts of Reiki to my clients.
And incorporate it into the meditations I give and the future online workshops I will be putting on in the Autumn for you.

The power of Reiki is in it's ability to provide a space for you to remember that you are your own healer.
For your body to be put into a state of healing as well as your mind, emotions & soul. So that it can heal what is needed.

If you are still a skeptic (like I was), I invite you to open your mind and simply try it... you might be pleasantly surprised at what you experience in your session & afterwards in your life. ✨

Happy September ✨

Every moment is a brand new opportunity for us to get it right.
But sometimes the turn of a page symbolically, is what we need to refresh for our mind, energy and even soul.

If you have been feeling a bit stagnant and flat recently, lacking inspiration or motivation, the energy of September is bound to get you moving again.
It’s a time of creation and most importantly action, putting into motion the things you want to see happen.

Take what September has to offer and treat it like the start of something, a new year (like schools), a new chapter.

Ask yourself what is it you really want to do this month? What is it you want to bring to the world?
To your own smaller world too?

Go out and take one step towards it today! No matter how small.

We have to learn to run our mind or else it will run us.
These are two great negative pattern interrupters, to stop you from getting lost in the rabbit hole of fear from your ego.

I find that naming your Ego is great but that naming it the opposite gender can really help to separate it even further from the feeling that you are the fear based lies it is trying to tell you. As it feels even further away from who you are.
Have fun with the name - you don't have to take it all so seriously!

The more we are able to notice and then interrupt the cycle of fear based or negative thoughts that we can find ourselves in, then the easier it starts to become to not just notice it but to change the course of it.
Change the course of it to a thought we would like to think, a thought that uplifts and strengthens us.

The mind is hardwired to look for the negative, as it's main objective is to keep us safe. But now that we are no longer hunter gatherers in the wilderness looking out for real life threats on a daily basis, our mind can instead latch onto all the modern day 'threats' and turn mole hills into mountains if we allow it to.

We all have the power to rewire our minds to a more positive space, thanks to neuroplasticity. We know when it comes to our minds, what we practice grows stronger.
So it's up to us to practice the good, so that we can eventually tip the scale to it becoming the stronger route.

So that we can notice it quickly enough when our mind spirals and through mindfulness choose again a kinder thought.

Kindness is the key to a healthy mind.
Start to practice being kinder within your mind and notice what shifts in your mood and days.

Feel more than you think, don’t think more than you feel.

Society has told us for so long to hide our feelings, to push things down and carry on. But when we block this part of us and reside purely in the logic of the mind, we unknowingly block our greatest power and the speed of our healing.
The greatness of our experiences.

Our mind is powerful, but our feelings are the catalyst for our change and the bridge to our intuition.
Both the key to our empathy and understanding of others and ourselves.

They are the guide to truly knowing our soul. The language of our intuition and the strength behind our understanding.

Don’t think too much that you forget to feel.

To feel the good and embrace the bad.

To feel so that you can really live from the guidance of your soul. Not just the confusion of your mind.

Have the courage to feel fully so that you can become the master your feelings, finally able to use them as the roadmap to both your greatest potential and back to the authenticity of your soul ✨

After a little break... a brand new episode of The Lawali Life Podcast is out now and I have some wonderful guests to shaer with you over the coming weeks!
Starting this week where I was joined for the first time by some real diamonds of the nutrition industry The Forking Wellness girls
Bari is a registered dietitian and Sophie is a certified nutritionist and together they are the co-authors of their best-selling booking Forking Wellness and Co-hosts of The Forking Wellness Podcast.

Their ethos around food and nutrition is looking at what our body really needs, rather than trying to limit what we put into it and then finding we quickly digress back into our bad habits. Or as Bari would call herself an 'anti diet dietitian'.

They focus largely on the power of intuitive eating, which is to really understand what our body needs intuitively when it comes to food. 

They were the first nutritionists I have had on the podcast, so I really loved our conversation and found it really eye-opening. If you are interested in your health and eating habits, but sick of diets. This ones for you...

Welcome to the second half of the year!
Time to get clear and reflect on what you have done this year towards your own growth - body, mind and soul.

Are you happy with your progress?

How have things changed so far?

And where would you like to now go with it?

Have you been listening to the guidance of your intuition this year, or have you constantly been relying solely on your mind?
Reflect on where that’s brought you. Not just in the outside world, but within yourself.

I was reminded of this the other week and it really sank deeply back into my heart. Why do we all expect to be at the same place at the same time?
And more importantly - why should we want to be? (Oh society again😉)

There is a divine plan at work for each one of us, individually.
A plan that is solely for you and has only your best interests at heart.
A plan that knows what is best for you far more than the ego of the human mind. Of thinking you should have done this by now and x by z.

We often forget this and focus on only what we can see in-front of us.
Focusing on comparing ourselves to what others are doing and how ‘far’ they seem to have come.
We look at what we don’t have and we allow ourselves to feel behind.

When in reality - life isn’t linear.

Just because someone has something you want now, doesn’t mean you won’t get it later and be just as, if not even more happy.

Just because you may be at a struggle in your life at the moment, whilst others seem to be flying, doesn’t mean you will remain there.
And in reality it doesn’t mean they will either.

Whilst we are down others are up and whilst we are up others are down.

Life is full of loops, turns, twists and flow.
Remind yourself that anything is possible. Anything can change overnight for good just as it can for the bad.

So if you are going through a good phase or if you are going through a tough one. Remind yourself that life isn’t linear, so know that this won’t last forever, so remember to either appreciate it whilst it’s here or thank it before it’s gone.

You are not on a race to the end. You’re on a continual ride to begin once again.
