On January 25, HKU Lingering Love and HKU College 1 co-organized a vibrant community event at Jockey Club Student Village IV, welcoming 70 ethnic minorities, mostly domestic workers, for โStronger You: Master Your Posture & Protect Your Joints.โ This meaningful initiative aimed to empower participants with essential knowledge and practical skills to support their joint health and overall well-being.
First- and second-year HKU medical & pharmacy students facilitated an interactive workshop, sharing insights from their Musculoskeletal Block. They taught simple exercises and posture techniques to help prevent injuries from physically demanding work. Participants actively engaged in the session, practicing the exercises, asking questions about pain and strain, and receiving elastic exercise bands as practical gifts to continue their routines at home.
The event highlighted the invaluable contributions of domestic workers in Hong Kong and equipped them with tools to care for their bodies and minds. It also provided medical students a unique opportunity to apply their knowledge and foster community engagement, making a positive impact on both sides.
