👀 If it's important to you, you will find a way to do it. If it's not, you will find an excuse.

💥 Mind Blown…

It is the truth.

With whatever you do, you have assigned it a certain level of importance, and you will generally do as much.

Often, there is a misalignment from the Intention ➜ Action + Behaviour.

We have great intentions but fail in our actions and behaviors or bring them to life.

The other day, I had a great conversation with a client who was feeling peaked, challenged, guilty, and uncertain after receiving a comment from his boss.

Please note that the way his boss intended the comment to be received is unknown.

How it landed made my client feel he was on the naughty list.

Why? Because of who he is and how he measures himself in relation to the work he is doing. The comment landed with him as a criticism. The question is, who was criticizing him? His boss or himself as, he was not living up to his principles and values.

During our conversation, he kicked himself for not doing enough or bringing more of the value that he knew he had.

A collective Kabal of saboteurs showed up in his narrative, which serves the purpose of holding him back and triggering guilt, shame, and other negative emotions in an internal narrative.

All of which I called out and challenged. We explored different perspectives and how they impacted him.

The conversation was amazing, and the bottom line for him was an invitation to take charge of an ambiguous situation, take responsibility and accountability, and own the empowerment he has been gifted with.

Set his agenda with agency, set clear direction, purpose, and focus, and lean in.

Felt inspired, grounded, focused, and determined with a clear purpose and direction.

Talking it out is powerful.

Working remotely from home has many benefits and is equivalent to pitfalls.

I have personal experience as I have been working remotely since early 2014, and it took a significant mindset shift.

During and Post Covid, I have coached many clients who have experienced a wide range of issues they face and experienced. Burnout, overwhelm, and time management were most common.

My short article below published in Brainz Magazine outlines the three steps I used to be a successful remote worker.

It's crucial to define what success means to you in remote work. It's not just about delivering outcomes, but about finding a balance that works for you.

These are the three fundamental principles that I use because I work remotely, and I am "Crushing It" on a daily basis.

I am delighted to have been recognized for my work in Coaching Leadership, Mindset, and Empowerment for a second year in a row. 🍀

It is an honor and privilege to receive the award, and it acknowledges that my Purpose, Direction, and Focus are aligned with my North Star of promoting the fundamental necessity of "Standing in Your Power."

💪 Being true to yourself, authentic, and expressive.
💪 Trusting and believing in yourself and your abilities.
💪 Being responsible, accountable, and committed.

👉 And upholding your principles, values, and boundaries is sacred.

It is powerfully motivating to assist my clients in recognizing and embodying their self-worth, self-value, and self-esteem, as well as the contributions they are making.

There is a ripple effect. As they change, their world changes. I am so joyous to behold the impact and influence that they have on others as they promote "Self-Empowerment" and continue to embody that.

I work on recalibrating where they are today to where they want to be tomorrow.

We work on Clarity:

📌 Clarifying their values
📌 Clarifying what they want
📌 Clarifying where they are going

It allows them to uphold and maintain their personal boundaries at work and at home, thereby showing up in their unique, authentic way. It also builds their executive presence to support their true purpose.

Thank you to Brainz Magazine and anyone and everyone who has witnessed and been with me on this journey. I am truly grateful.

Go for resonance. In the CTI model, we can call it Fulfillment. Whatever the label you choose, remember you can choose to build on what is going well. As my late wife would always say "Add Oil, Add Oil!" Keep on doing what you are doing. You are on the right path.

⛔️ “F*ck wits!”

This was a technical term I used as a fully focused Corporate Hospitality Professional.

👌 I now know better… and the correct technical term I now use is:
“Dunning-Kruger Effect.”

… a type of cognitive bias in which people with little expertise or ability assume they have superior knowledge or ability. This overestimation occurs because they don’t have enough knowledge to know they don’t have enough.

👉 See, I have grown, matured, evolved. Haha

No Joke, really. I evolved in terms of judgment of myself and others. I had a perception, concept, and clear and fixed ideas on desired outcomes, forged in rigidity with zero or no room for change or input.

Conflicting beliefs and behaviors. I was a poster boy for the Dunning-Kruger Effect (there were many of us and still are), and I did not know it. I was looking at the world from a 1-dimensional perspective. It had been successful and effective up until it wasn’t.

Glass Ceiling

I had enough light to realize that what had been working for me before was not working now. I wanted something to change, to be different, and so I had to do something differently—show up differently.

Improving, Adapting, and overcoming was not the whole answer. I needed to conduct a deep dive into who I was being. I did not like all that came up for me, but I had the presence of mind to own it, be responsible, accept it, and then embrace it—warts and all, as they say.

I grew into my EQ and strengthened my self-awareness. I realized that how I responded was more impactful than how I reacted.

Cause and Affect.

What a powerful realization! It immediately influenced my career and changed people's perceptions of me.

Call it Executive Presence, Personal ReBranding, Self-Mastery, Resilience, and more.

The bottom line is that I changed the way I showed up. I understood that I needed to be and do things differently, including my intentions, My Mindset, and My Behaviors.

💪 I Adapted
💪 I Evolved
💪 I Overcame

So can you. It is always the right time. Rinse and repeat as required.

Then, one day, I realized …

I was treading water. I took my eye off the ball at work to rest, relax, and recalibrate because the grind at work was exactly that a grind!

What happened?

I think I may have settled and accepted that the daily struggle had been taking its toll. I had definitely taken my foot off the accelerator and slowed down. I certainly underestimated the pace at which my work and life had been moving.

How can I catch up?

When I want something to change, I explore what is in my control to change.
When I want a different outcome, I do something differently.
When I am stuck in a struggle, I let go of the fight.

It is all about Perspective!

I take the “I have to…” out of the equation.

Simple and Very Powerful. 😃

Like many others, I can get caught up in the details and lose sight of my higher goals, and get sucked into the immediate win. 😐

I like to call it a dopamine hit. It's a short-term high with an immediate crashing low that triggers an internal narrative of doubt, comparison, perhaps some guilt, and shame.

“I should have…”

Yet…

I am looking for serotonin—that long-lasting warm fuzzy feeling that makes me feel good. I want to feel like I have contributed to the betterment of another free of transaction, expecting nothing in return.

“I am glad I did…”

Why?

✅ I feel that it is the right thing to do.
✅ It is aligned with my principles, purpose, values, and direction.
✅ I have had the self-awareness and self-mastery to be flexible when my trigger is to be rigid.
✅ I am holding on to a broader, bigger, better, and more nebulous goal.
✅ I see, hear, recognize, and respect myself, then see, hear, recognize, and respect others equally.

Outcome…

I walk away, feeling like I did not second-guess myself. I was true to myself and my values.

Meaning;

👍 I was present.
👍 I was authentic.
👍 I was agile and nimble.

Sometimes, the slightest change in the right direction may end up being the most significant change in your life. Make it small if you must; just make the change.
