Client testimony:

“At the age of 70, with osteoporosis and SI joint arthritis, I struggled daily with pain in my left side, lower back, and neck, often relying on stretching and massages for relief. Learning to rebuild my structure functionally has been transformative. I am now more aware of my body’s alignment, able to hold my scoliotic pattern, and no longer dependent on constant massages to alleviate pain. The progress and improvements I’ve achieved in reversing my scoliosis at 70 years young have been truly remarkable.”

I’m sure most of you have heard this claims from somewhere:

“Every exercise is a functional exercise.”

I think the logic behind this claim is trying to say every movement that you will perform in life should be considered as functional.

While I’ll ask another question, is pain and injury related to this term “functional training”?

I have seen people who curl big weights and injuries their back and shoulders, that make me think is it really “functional”?

To me, functionality is adaptability, meaning your body could function efficiently in life without pain.

So when I give a exercise to my client, I’ll make should the exercise is facilitating motor pattern that enhances efficiency in moving that weight of any form rather that using a weight that have them feel the “pump” in one particular area.

It’s all about intention.

“Live intentionally, not habitually.”

Levator Scapulae Pain Syndrome (肩胛提肌綜合症)
