I picked an 8 year old boy off the Kwun Tong ferry years ago who is now 60 years old. He left me when he was 18 years old and got married when he was 19. He became a driver of a tourist bus. He never was one of our drug addicts. He now also has cancer and has been on treatment at QE hospital for 4 months. His name is Wah Hing and needs prayers.

I have been so busy daily helping my adopted son who is now 40 years old with cancer. Every day taking him out to Fairwood for lunch. Taking him to see doctors for tests. This Thursday must take him back to United Christian Hospital for a more complete report on his situation. However, I have found this article in the South China Morning Post about a man that went through 10 follow-ups to United Christian Hospital for treatment for prostate cancer without getting a final diagnosis until cancer had gone all through his whole body. So, I am trying to get my son's treatment out of United Christian Hospital to Princess Margaret Hospital as this hospital is supposed to be the best in Hong Kong for cancer treatment. However, I still do not have much trust in government hospitals. I have been told that I can apply to the Li Ka Sing Foundation provides that funds to help cancer patients. A friend of mine got $200,000.00 for his wife's cancer treatment in a private hospital. So, here prayer is needed.

So, have been hit with all kinds of troubles which is normal for being in Hong Kong for 62 years. The two front tires on my car went bad and had to be replaced. My house which is in Siu Lam Village on a hillside got flooded with water during the one week's stormy weather. However, have overcome these two difficulties and my house is dry. A friend provided a dehumidifier which has helped to get the place dried out. I am to go for an electrocardiogram scan of my heart on the 24th of June as I have had for many years a leaking aorta valve. Praying that nothing serious will show up. However, I have no symptoms of heart disease, and feeling quite well, and keeping active at 84 years of age. However, often easily tired. Excited that Robert Ho Tung Charitable Fund will be giving us a new car in July. So, daily my faith is being stretched to keep going despite my age.

At our drug rehab here in Siu Lam Village, we have nine men who are in rehabilitation. Very grateful for the work of Yip Ngai Wing and his wife Onna supervising the place. It is big challenge for them as expenses are running $60,000.00 a month; that is, about $8000.00 US dollars. We have been going since April 2022 with all bills paid.

I have posted a photo of a park in Hong Kong where at least 60 drug addicts live and sleep. Pray we will be able to reach these and bring them into our center.

Here is an update on my health and needs for our drug rehabilitation ministry. From June 7th till September 1st, I was having severe regurgitation in a leaking aorta value which was giving me much discomfort. I went to a cardiologist on the 21st of June, but he was not much help. On August 4th, I got terrible angina pain with pain in my left arm. They sent me to Queen Mary Hospital for three days, but they were not much help. I got friends praying and interceding in six countries and on September 1st no more regurgitation and now I have another miracle. Feeling so much better and getting more things done for the ministry.

Worked one week applying to Ho Tung Charitable Fund in Hong Kong for funds to purchase a new car. This is needed as the one car we have is eight years old. Looking for another place to send an application to a funding organization for funding for one year’s wages for our three staff members.

Also, there is a park here in Hong Kong that has one hundred drug addicts sleeping there. Recently two men injected themselves overdosing on he**in in this park and died in there. A week ago, with two of my helpers, I went to the park and passed out brochures introducing our drug rehabilitation centre along with passing out food. We saw so many pathetic cases. I believe I saw one young man that was possibly dead lying out on a concrete path in the park. He was either dead or unconscious. Many were unconscious because they had just taken drugs. We only took 40 brochures and food for 40 but discovered there were one hundred. We will be making another attempt to go again at the end of this month to try to reach out to all one hundred.

There is an abandoned two-storey house here in Siu Lam village on government land and I am applying with the Hong Kong government lands office to get this house as staff quarters. One member of our staff is spending two thousand Hong Kong dollars on daily bus fares as he lives a long way from our centre and spends two hours daily to come to work here. If we have a house for staff this will keep them nearby. So, the problems that need prayer are our financial needs as our monthly operating costs are not $60,000.00 Hong Kong dollars a month, means to recruit new addicts for rehabilitation, healing for all my health needs, pray that the lands department will give us the house, and for two young men that have left our centre that have relapsed to drugs. Pray for Ah Keung and Ah Tat to come to Jesus for complete restoration.

Here is my latest update and many have been sending me messages and asking how I am. On the 20th of June I started have regurgitation in my heart. For a many years government hospitals have been telling me that I have a slight leaking aorta valve. I became concerned that this leakage had become worse. I went to see my cardiologist the Seven-day Adventist hospital and he told me not to be too concerned. Now, I must book one month in advance to see this doctor. This regurgitation continued till the 4th of July and then I had terrible angina pain and pain in my left arm with the regurgitation. After twenty-four hours that pain left but the vibration in my heart continues. So, I decided I needed to have this checked out so I went to the Queen Mary Hospital where I had had a stent put in February eighth and I was there for one week. When I had the angina pain on July 3rd and 4th I was there two days and hoping they would do an echocardiogram to find out the condition of my heart but found out that they are booked two years in advance for patients to have this procedure done. This is also true for MRI’s and CT scans. So, I was there, and they gave me medications that lowered my heartbeat to forty-four. I am now out of the hospital, but the vibrations have improved with them occurring only occasionally. So, I have found a Cardiac Clinic near where I live that can do a scan of my heart, but I believe it will cost about $600.00 USD dollars. So, if you have heart disease here in Hong Kong you cannot get much help from a government hospital because you cannot find a cardiologist nor get scans of your heart. The only hope is that you have enough money or insurance to find a private clinic. I want to find out what caused my angina pain in my arm and heart. Need friends everywhere praying that I will be healed of this situation.

At our drug rehab centre in Hong Kong, we now have five men for rehab. We have Yip Ngai Wing and his wife as supervisors, and another young me who was a drug addict years ago that got rehabilitated at GPF and graduated from Bible College. We need a miracle to cover all the expenses. This is great faith issue. So far, all bills have been paid since June when we reopened. I am so grateful for the dedication of Ah Wing and Onna our supervisors as they only go home once a week and living in the centre taking care of the men. They have put their son in a Christian boarding school on Cheung Chau Island. One of the big expenses is the power and water for a sewage treatment plant that runs twenty-four hours. Also, there are about twelve aircons. Agree with us that funds will be coming in for operation expenses for September.

On our cover page is Ng Chi Chung. This photo was taken about five years ago. We took a group of our men to Burna to minister. Here is Ng Chi Chung praying for an elderly Burmese man. Ng Chi Chung came to our center to come out of drugs. Attended Muk Lun Bible College and graduated. Worked as a volunteer worker before 1917 when all our addicts in rehab had to leave for the reconstruction of our center. Ng Chi Chung is now married and has come back to our center to be a member of our staff with very low paid wages. We are very grateful for Ng Chi Chung's commitment to helping us restart our drug rehabilitation program as we are after four years of being closed to reopening our center to receive drug addicts. We have so far only taken in three and because we have been closed for four years most of the drug addicts in Hong Kong do not know we have reopened. We have a big job of informing all of Hong Kong that we have an open door not to receive hurting men. Pray with us that God will send his angels to bring in drug addicts as we estimate there are at least 200,000 of these needing help. We estimate our monthly running costs for the present will be $60,000.00 Hong Kong dollars a month. That will be $7729 US dollars a month. We have been open two months and miracles have paid all our bills.

The Glorious Praise Fellowship has been involved in drug rehabilitation for 20 years, and I have also served in Hong Kong for 50 years in ministering to marginal youth. I have been involved in evangelism in Hong Kong prisons for many years and I was the chairman of the Prisoner’s Friends Society for many years. To qualify for and obtain our present Drug Rehab license from the Social Welfare Department, we have invested four years in the renovation construction project for Glorious Praise Fellowship to renovate our drug pour centre. We are located in Siu Lam Village on the Castle Peak Road near the Gold Coast. After the renovation project was completed, we obtained a formal license issued by the Social Welfare Department and have restarted the admission of drug addicts for rehabilitation. Fifteen years ago we started with nothing to rebuild this centre but it was a miracle that the Social Welfare department of HK gave us $2,000,000.00 USD to complete this work. We have all new employees that are all married. Three of them were former drug addicts. Two of them received help from our drug rehabilitation centre over 10 years ago. We hope that if have contacts that want to stop taking drugs you will refer these to us if they are in Hong Kong. They can contact our staff member managing admissions Mr. Yip Ngai Wing at 51320469.

Our drug rehabilitation program emphasizes helping drug addicts accept Jesus Christ and guiding them on how to build a close relationship with God to be released from demonic oppression. Since 1999 we already have graduated 100 men from our drug rehabilitation centre. That is, over 20 , 100 grads have not relapsed to drugs. Now most of these are married, have their own families, and have their own careers. Four that have graduated from our Hong Kong Rehabilitation Centre are now engaged in full-time Christian work. We have also been committed to assisting Chinese drug addicts in China to enter Bible Seminaries and these are now involved in ministry. We sincerely thank you for being on the same front with us to promote gospel drug rehabilitation work.
