Since the orientation, I found that PPP was a very interesting and meaningful organization which can bring love and hope to young patients. I am always looking forward to participate in this kind of activity. On one hand, it is a voluntary work that can help others and share our experience with others to make the children not feel lonely on fighting against such diseases. On the other hand, especially for students like me who do not come from Hong Kong, it is a good way to learn more about the city which is not easy to be seen. In most people’s eyes including us, Hong Kong is such a prosperous metropolis and everyone enjoys this kind of city life. But in fact, it is a total misunderstanding of this city. In poor areas of the city, many people are still struggling and living a hard life. At first, I was wondering whether the children like our activities or not, but after the social worker’s patient instructions, I tried to understand things on children’s position and tried my best to give them an unforgettable experience. At the same time, through involving in these activities, we have got the chance to help others by using what we majored in and make our knowledge benefit more to the society.
For instance, in the first visit, I and Zita spent most of time accompanying with the little baby who hasn’t seen her parents since her birth. Though she is so young that she cannot speak clearly, we can feel that she is happy and she really enjoyed our accompany. We really hope that her pain will be released a little and she will have a happy life in the future.
