Yoga and Mindfulness through Stories We offer storytime yoga and mindfulness practice to children from 3-6, 6-9 years old and parents accompanied sessions to 2-3 years old based in Tai Po, HK.

More often than not, battery-powered materials tell children “how to play with it” - meaning, there’s just one way, and it’s the “right” way!

This doesn’t leave much room for children to use their imagination. And yet, exploring with imagination is what leads children to true learning!

Materials without batteries, such as loose parts, give children the freedom to decide what the material is going to become.

Materials powered by batteries are not “bad” - but I challenge you to find more opportunities to use materials that are powered by children’s imaginations! ✨

We finished our school year with some awesome parent/child yoga challenge. It was amazing to see how children, parents and teachers build strong relationships through out the school year of 2017/2018. Yoga is so much fun for everybody and it connects people in the community.

Dear parents of little yogis,
親愛的小瑜伽練習員家長們,

We have had a fun week of yoga classes. Children enjoyed making/decorating their smily breathing gloves and practicing deep abdominal breathing. I have some videos to share with you this time as well as pictures. I hope you enjoy looking at them with your children and please feel free to share any of your home practice pictures/videos with me.
這一周的瑜伽課堂非常有趣。孩子們製作了呼吸手套,來幫助孩子們練習腹式深呼吸。我們為大家拍攝了視頻還有照片,期待您為我們分享孩子們在家練習的視頻或者圖片。

We have practiced the yoga disco song called Washing Machine Yoga Disco. It is available on YouTube.

Peaceful Piggy Yoga storybook we have used was popular among children.This fun and informative picture book guide shows kids and piggies in classic yoga poses, complete with instructions. Children followed the piggy and did a lot of yoga poses. You can find the book from Amazon or feel free to borrow it from me for a few days if you want to see each pose in detail with your children again. I was very happy that one parent has borrowed the Puppy mind book from me last time.
這週我們閱讀了Peaceful Piggy Yoga 《安靜的瑜伽小豬》這本書,孩子們非常喜歡。這是一本有趣、信息豐富的圖片故事書,通過不同的職業或人物,比如芭蕾舞演員、足球運動員和小寶寶等,教孩子們基本的瑜伽動作,并配有詳細的說明。孩子們跟著小豬做了許多動作,您可以在課後的家長信息中進行查閱。您也可以在亞馬遜網站 Amazon 找到這一本書,或者向我們借閱此書回家和孩子們進行練習。我很開心上一次有一位家長向我借閱了Puppy Mind 那一本書!

The toe drawing game children had was interesting. It might be the first time children realise that they can use their little toes to draw pictures! Some of them were using both feet. This game help children to build strong feet and flexible toes. It also helps to balance their brains when they use both feet to make marks. All you need is a large piece of paper on the wall/door and two color pens for your child. Younger children might need your help putting pens in between their little toes.
用腳趾畫畫這個遊戲孩子們覺得特別有意思。這可能是您的孩子第一次意識到他們可以用小腳趾來畫畫!您可以在家中的墻上或者門上貼大號的紙,然後準備兩隻彩筆。小一些的孩子可能需要您的幫助,把筆放在他們的腳趾中間。這樣的腳趾畫畫練習幫助孩子們增強腳的力量、穩定性以及平衡能力,幫助他們有靈活的小腳趾。

Some of you may already notice that we have a parent information booklet of Yoga and Mindfulness through Stories program at our campus now. You can find it from the table in parents' waiting area and see the previous course contents as well as my summarisation for each class so far.
可能一些家長們已經注意到,我們為大家提供了一份《通過故事練習瑜伽提升專注力》的家長信息冊在校園中,您可以在家中等候區域上進行閱讀,了解之前的每一次課程內容與我每週的郵件信息反饋。

We are going to do a football breathing game next week and make crocodile artwork. I look forward to meeting them soon on the mat.
