Also if you’re looking for western fusion vegan food, sweet little spot in SYP. Also just a nice quiet atmosphere to sip on coffee and get some work done.

Some people have dating dealbreakers… I’ve just got meal non-negotiables. They gotta be:

✅ Simple to Make
✅ Nutritious
✅ Satisfying

Over the years, I’ve learned that when I can check these three simple boxes - it makes healthy eating a sustainable lifestyle habit.

These work for me.

What are YOUR non-negotiables for meals?

Don’t have any? Think about what would make mealtime less stressful and more enjoyable? Identify your barriers. Is it time, ability, space?

📞 DM if you need support working through it

Wayne and I met in the fall of 2015 at Acadia University. If you’re not familiar with the school, google it. It’s a beautiful campus (especially in the fall when everything looks dreamy).
Needless to say, this school holds a special place in our hearts.

Two years ago, we met Andre Lau, graduate of 1961 and Stephen Mak (‘89) at our first alumni gathering in Hong Kong.

Fun fact: Andre Lau met his wife, Lily at Acadia too! And they are still happily married. 🥰

Every so often we get together with graduates from universities from Atlantic Canada and it’s always a good time. The conversation flows (along with the wine 🍷), sharing memories from school, talking about how things have changed and catching everybody up on what’s been happening in our lives.

If you’re a graduate of Acadia, Dal, St Mary’s or St FX - get in touch! We would love to invite you to the next one.

Starting my morning off with this rich and creamy high fibre smoothie. This drink already checks off a serving of fruit and vegetable, great way to begin the day.

🌱 Most people think about what they eat.
💭 Few think about where it starts.

Behind every food choice is a ripple effect — on your health, the environment, and the future of our food system. 🌍🥗

🛒 That avocado?
✅ Nutrient-dense, yes.
🚚 But also shipped thousands of miles.

🥩 That steak?
✅ High in iron.
🔥 But also contributing to deforestation and methane emissions.

🧠 What if we saw food as more than just macros?

The truth is:
✅ Nutrition and sustainability are inseparable.
✅ What nourishes you should also nourish the planet.
✅ We can make choices that are good for our bodies and the Earth.

Here’s how to start:
🌾 Choose seasonal, local produce
🍛 Eat more plant-forward meals
🤝 Support farmers using regenerative practices
👀 Stay curious — where did this food really come from?

It’s not about perfection — it’s about awareness.

Because health doesn’t start in the kitchen.
It starts in the soil. 🌿

This weekend, I participated in a Plant Based Cooking Workshop in Zhongshan, China - hosted by , 慧思姐QX and Bree Lee.

The 2 day event was comprehensive, meaningful and just what I needed this typhoon weekend ⛈️

What I loved most:

💚As someone who often leads food workshops, taking a step back to become a participant felt refreshingly unfamiliar. I especially admired the facilitators, whose calm, grounding energy shaped the tone of the entire weekend. Experiencing the workshop from the other side allowed me to reconnect with what it feels like to be gently led—something I’ll carry forward into my own practice.

💚 This workshop was a chance for me to slow down. When life gets busy, I often find myself rushing through food prep in my efforts to be efficient. But over this weekend, I gave myself permission to be present with the process - I sliced cherry tomatoes with precision, arranged tempeh with intention, and garnished dishes with care.

💚 Sitting around the table and listening to women from all walks of life speak openly about their plant-based journeys was deeply meaningful—both personally and professionally. Their reflections on the challenges they faced and the benefits they’ve experienced added a dimension that extended far beyond food. It’s a powerful reminder that nutrition and health are not measured through metrics alone.

💚 I felt genuinely welcomed and accommodated. This was the first time the class was delivered bilingually, which naturally slowed the pace of the sessions as the team translated both content and conversation. I’m especially grateful for their efforts—and for the patience of other participants.

I always thought chocolate was calling my name... turns out it was saying Rayca — sounds the same to me!🍫😉

Meet Ray, the man behind Rayca’s chocolate. He is passionate about chocolate education! He especially enjoys working with youth and giving them a hands-on, sensory experience around cocoa (also known as cacao) beans🫘

He works directly with small scale farmers (some of whom are good friends) and ensures their efforts are recognised.

Great meeting you at
We look forward to our dark chocolate pecans!

Fudge food rules that say brownies are forbidden 🚫

A healthy relationship with food starts with balance, enjoyment, and freedom — not fear and restriction.

With kids, it’s important not to label foods and scare them with health consequences. Food is more than just nutrients. It’s sensory, cultural and joyful.

Instead of judgement, invite curiosity:

👃 What does the brown sugar smell like? Is it sweet like caramel?
👀 How does the batter change as we stir?
👅 Is it chewy, gooey or crispy on the edge?
✋How does icing sugar feel compared to regular white sugar?
🧠 How does this food make you feel?

Encouraging kids to explore with their senses helps build a positive connection to food - one that goes far deeper than any rule ever could.

👉 Swipe to the end to see what the brownies actually looked like 😂
