You’ve been told, “She understands, just give her time.” ⏳
But weeks turn into months. And the silence grows heavier.
Your child follows instructions. Laughs at silly games. Knows what’s happening. But when it’s time to speak, the words don’t come. ☹️
It’s not because you didn’t do flashcards. Or drills.
Here’s why:
Understanding a word ≠ able to use the word😱
Speech is not a simple repeat-after-me. It’s more like a relay…thoughts in the brain passing a message down to the mouth🏃🏻♂️💨🧠 And sometimes, that message gets stuck. ✋🏻
So instead of asking your child to repeat more words, help them build messages in real time. 👷🏼♂️👷🏻♀️🧱🏰
Try this:
1️⃣ Pick one routine today. Snack time, bath, getting dressed.
2️⃣ Before each step, say one short phrase. Slowly.
• “Open box.” (pause)
• “Take biscuit.”
3️⃣ Wait 3–5 seconds.
Give your child a chance to try—one word, a sound, a gesture. It all counts.
4️⃣ Keep track of how many steps they attempt, not how perfect they are.
Why this works: pairing short phrases with real-life actions helps the brain link words with meaning, timing, and use.
BUILDING LANGUAGE in everyday life — WITHOUT pressure, without drills. And it sticks better when used across home and school.
