In the rural Wangcheng district of Changsha, a kindhearted thirteen-year-old boy named Tianxiang lives with his grandparents. For years, they struggled to get the therapy and special education resources Tianxiang desperately needed. Late last year, our Outreach Team met Tianxiang and his family for the first time. Yongqi is a gentle, kindhearted seventeen-year-old who lives in a rural area of Hunan Province with his family. When our team first visited, he was very shy, and his mother shared that he is very scared of new people. On our second visit, Yongqi was still feeling quite shy, and left to go outside. He was playing with some leaves, so our team engaged with him, playing a passing game with him using the leaves. Gradually, Yongqi fel more at ease with the team. He agreed to play a hand-clapping game, which brought a big smile to his face. His mother was surprised and overjoyed at his willingness to engage with the team.

At ICC, support is always centred on the child's needs, and each therapy and education plan is customised to serve each child as an individual. We first welcomed Fang into our care when he was just five months old. This month, he is celebrating his 26th birthday! Surrounded by love, hope and opportunity, Fang thrived in ICC's care, first attending a local special educational school, then joining ICC's Pathways vocational training programme. Along the way, he discovered a love of music, and continues to delight his siblings and caregivers with his beautiful singing voice!

Yichen is solely cared for by his grandmother. When Outreach Team 5 came to visit to provide special education and therapy for Yichen, his grandmother was very moved and thanked us many times for coming all the way to teach him. Our team taught his grandmother some simple therapy massage exercises she could do with Yichen at home. Since then, she has shared that she has been doing them regularly and is already seeing improvements in Yichen's muscle strength.

A home visit from ICC doesn't just provide therapy and education services. It also provides comfort, a reassuring hand that reaches out to vulnerable families like Yichen's, and lets them know that they are not alone.

Dance and music is an important part of life at ICC! It brings so much joy to the children we work with. Below, you can see photos of a recent class that was hosted for Dragon Boat Day, where students had the opportunity to play on drums and "row" their own dragon boat! In another recent class, students learned how to make zongzi, a traditional rice dumpling that people often eat during the Dragon Boat Festival. Thank you for making engaging, exciting classes like this possible!
