Many of my weight loss clients are using a combination of the Keto diet with Intermittent Fasting. I only recommend Keto for a maximum of 6 weeks as it cuts out too many prebiotic fibres which are needed for a balanced gut microbiome. Intermittent fasting can work without the need to eat a Keto dieClear Allt too! However, that said here is a nice recipe for Keto fans!

Who likes a good life hack or diet hack? One of my weight maintenance hacks is to drink a glass of water 30 minutes before a meal, it fills you up a little so you do not overeat, plus drinking water during your meals dilutes your stomach acid and enzymes so it is a good practice for better digestion! It took a lot of willpower for me to stop eating regular bread containing gluten, yet after 3 months of consistently applying a new behaviour, it becomes our new habit. The next step was to go gluten free and that was a gradual transition and took finding great recipes for tasty treats so that I did not feel like I was missing out.

Going gluten free is the single most important dietary change you can make if you have thyroid disease.

Today I did my 7 minute presentation at my BNI meeting about gut health & I shared 2 successful case studies about clients who were having sugar cravings, gas, bloating and bowel irregularities. Sugar cravings are often a sign that there is an imbalance or an overgrowth in the gut or that you are not eating the right balance of macro nutrients (protein, carbs and fats) for your body type & metabolism.

In 2020 I set myself the goal of healing my small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) with the Biphasic Diet and natural, antimicrobial treatment. I wanted to see if it was possible, I believed it was, yet I knew it was not going to be easy and I could have opted for a 2 week course of antibiotics instead. However, having had countless courses of antibiotics for repeated tonsillitis in my early twenties and as a child, I did not want to take any more antibiotics unless it was vital. Doctors did not tell you to take probiotics after a course of antibiotics in those days and little did I know how damaged my gut microbiome was!

It took over 5 months yet I healed my SIBO and this is one of the reasons I am a gut health coach and want to share what is possible for your gut health if you too are suffering with SIBO or other gut imbalances.

Keto, Paleo, Metabolism Reset, Blood Sugar Diet, Atkins, Zone, F-Plan, there are so many different diets out there and one size does not fit all. When choosing what works for you, remember that we are all bio-individual and it can take time to experiment and find your optimal way of eating for weight loss and/or weight maintenance.

Many thrive on the Keto lifestyle, yet it does exclude a wide range of resistant starches & there's research that states that it it best to limit the time one goes on a keto diet to about 6 weeks. I know some of you reading this have adopted it as a lifestyle and feel it works ongoingly, so like I said we are bio-individual.

My clients have had some of their best weight loss and maintenance results with The Metabolism Reset Diet by Dr. Alan Christianson and The Blood Sugar Diet by Dr. Michael Mosely. Another approach is simply to eat the healthy balanced diet that works for you and include the 5:2 intermittent fasting approach. Has anyone else reading this been blessed enough to have discovered their work and life purpose?

At the age of 25 I had the calling to be a Food preparation & nutrition educator and spent the next 30 years loving every minute of it. At the same time as doing this I discovered that I wanted to train as a Holistic Nutrition Health Coach in 2013. As a life long learner the journey continues and I am now training with The School of Applied Functional Medicine and have passed my part 1 certification, part 2 starts in September 2021. I am specialising in gut and hormone health, plus I am training with the SIBO Doctor in Australia to learn all that I can to heal small intestinal bacterial overgrowth.

You often hear me say that "Health is wealth" because without our health we are eventually stripped of all our inner and outer resources if we suffer from poor health ongoingly. You are what you eat, digest effectively absorb and get past the cell membrane, so remember to chew your food well, eat mindfully and look after your nutrition and gut health.

If you have symptoms of gas, bloating, diarrhea, constipation or both, these are all signs of gut imbalances. If you have taken antibiotics and did not reinoculate your gut with at least 30 days on a really good probiotic then your gut microbiome is imbalanced. If you have had food poisoning this can cause small intestinal bacterial overgrowth.

How do you define success?

Success for me can be seen in the small things as well as the big things. A small success can be choosing the diet that I know supports my own unique health challenges such as Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, this is why I follow a gluten free diet and I rarely eat gluten free pasta as the white starch without the fibre doesn't suit me.

Great wholegrain starches that are naturally gluten free are: quinoa, buckwheat grouts, & brown, red and wild rice. What are you going to do today to be successful?

Crystals! I'd love to hear your thoughts and feeling about crystals and Noni Eggs and if any of you use them in your life....
Today I am cleaning some of mine with salt water and then you energise them by putting them in the sunlight or moonlight (when it is a full moon is said to be best).
There are a number of different types of crystals, each filled with their own healing abilities for the mind, body, and soul. They’re thought to promote the flow of good energy and help rid the body and mind of negative energy for physical and emotional benefits.
Historically speaking, crystals are touted as ancient forms of medicine, with philosophies borrowed from Hinduism and Buddhism. However, allegedly there’s not much scientific evidence to support the use of crystals. Despite this, people are still drawn to their colours and beauty.
