Let's congratulate Dr. Angel Ma, who has graduated with a Doctor of Nursing degree.

Dr. Angel Ma is an alumni of our M.Sc. in GI program.

She is a nurse specializing in gastroenterology and hepatology at the Prince of Wales Hospital in Hong Kong.

She was honored with the Outstanding Academic Award for the Doctor of Nursing program for the 2023/24 academic year and received the 2024 Hospital Authority (HA) Outstanding Staff Award.

Congratulations to Prof. Jimmy Lai on Winning the Distinguished Research Paper Award for His Study on the Indeterminate Phase of Chronic Hepatitis B.

Prof. Lai has once again been awarded the Distinguished Research Paper Award by the Hong Kong College of Physicians, in recognition of his contribution to advancing the clinical understanding of chronic hepatitis B

Congratulations👨‍🔬Professor Jimmy Lai has been awarded the Distinguished Research Paper Award for Young Investigators by the Hong Kong College of Physicians!🥳🥳 Professor Lai received the award for his study on the potential long-term increase in fracture risk associated with the hepatitis B drug TDF. The research analyzed data from over 40,000 hepatitis B patients in Hong Kong between 2008 and 2022, specifically comparing the usage of two drugs—ETV and TDF—in patients over 60 years old. The results showed that patients who had been treated with TDF for over two years had a significantly higher risk of fractures, possibly related to the impact of TDF on bone density, especially in patients with existing osteoporosis or other risk factors.
