Common Acne Mistakes
𝗕𝟭𝟮, 𝗕𝟲, & 𝗕𝗜𝗢𝗧𝗜𝗡: do you take a hair, skin and nail supplement? do you drink energy drinks containing these ingredients like Celsius or Alani Nu? these could be triggering your acne and making it worse!
𝗣𝗜𝗖𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗬𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗦𝗞𝗜𝗡: as tempting as it may be, picking your acne will cause it to scar and spread bacteria that can lead to infection and more breakouts.
𝗠𝗔𝗞𝗘𝗨𝗣 𝗪𝗜𝗣𝗘𝗦: ah, the dreaded makeup wipes. while they are convenient, they are destroying your skins barrier and throwing off your pH levels which can lead to irritation and breakouts.
𝗣𝗘𝗔𝗡𝗨𝗧𝗦: peanuts, peanut butter, and peanut oil contain an androgen-like material. when you increase your body's presence of androgen, or a material like it, then your skin is more likely to create more oil.
𝗡𝗢𝗧 𝗛𝗬𝗗𝗥𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗡𝗚: all skin needs hydration, especially acne prone skin! you have to nourish your skin to help it function properly. lack of hydration can cause your skin to over produce oils to compensate for it.
𝗧𝗢𝗢 𝗠𝗔𝗡𝗬 𝗙𝗔𝗖𝗘 𝗠𝗔𝗦𝗞𝗦: I was so guilty of this! I truly believed if I used a clay mask (or any face mask of that matter) my skin would get clear… what I was really doing was stripping my skin and causing more irritation and breakouts, the more you know!
𝗦𝗟𝗘𝗘𝗣𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗜𝗡 𝗠𝗔𝗞𝗘𝗨𝗣: this is arguably one of the worst things you can do to your skin. sleeping in makeup can lead to more clogged pores and breakouts… your skin needs to breathe and nighttime skincare products like Retinoids are imperative for acne prone skin!
𝗧𝗢𝗢 𝗠𝗔𝗡𝗬 𝗔𝗖𝗧𝗜𝗩𝗘𝗦: you cannot dry out your acne my friends. too many actives in your regimen will cause your skin to be angry and inflamed! Inflammation is one of the key causes and results of acne. nourish your skin, don’t punish it! It’s allllll about BALANCE.
𝗗𝗜𝗥𝗧𝗬 𝗪𝗔𝗦𝗛𝗖𝗟𝗢𝗧𝗛𝗦: using a dirty washcloth on your clean skin is like taking a freshly detailed car mudding in the country. this can cause more breakouts as bacteria can be harbored in that dirty little washcloth of yours. clean washcloths only please.
