Due to our food system circulating around convenience, more of it is contaminated with chemicals either in the farming stages, or just added to improve flavour or shelf life.​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
Because of this, the diversity of "good bacteria" in our gut decreases, and this is important because our gut controls what gets absorbed into our bodies from food.​​​​​​​​

Look for ones that are refrigerated (aka not shelf stable) and 5 billion + CFU to keep your gut healthy 💩

As cities continue growing and become more densely populated, the energy becomes more buzzy and fast-paced which has been shown to increase stress and anxiety.​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
Studies show that going out for a walk in nature reduces stress, calms nerves, reduces depression and can be energizing.​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
I am lucky that I am able to take advantage of so many trails not too far out from the city here in Hong Kong. Wherever you may be in the world, go take a walk.

With that being said, many of us tend to eat more than we actually need to because we go to food for comfort. ​​​​​​​​

Something that I always teach my clients is the apple test. When you are craving food, ask yourself if you're hungry enough to eat an apple. If the answer is no, then you're likely not truly hungry.

I'm not talking about a full roast dinner, just small things that are convenient like a store-bought sauce (loving ) with some simple veg and noodles. That doesn't sound like too much effort, right?​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
Why is this important? ​​​​​​​​
Well, because when we cook for ourselves, we make a conscious effort to understand what we are putting in our bodies, and making an effort to take care of it. We put that caring energy into our food and then into our body, rather than ordering food online or for takeaway.​​​​​​​​

So say yes to your body by caring for it through food.

Been there, and this is totally fine as long as the work is something you love and live for.​​​​​​​​

If not, then I'd recommend putting up some boundaries and it all starts with that little device which has become an extension of your hand.​​​​​​​​

I NEVER give out my personal number for work. This is why I have 4 phones. ​​​​​​​​

I have a daily ritual on weekdays where I enjoy the silence of the early morning before all the noise of the day starts.

I wake up, brush my teeth, wash my face.
I feed .
I take my sweet time to make a turmeric/chai/coffee latte.
I sit down in the silence of my home and slowly drink each sip and savoring it.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
There is something grounding about having something warm to drink to start the day. Almost as if it calms your system down, which helps me mentally prepare for all the tasks at hand.

Why? Because having someone there to keep you accountable and be your cheerleader can be the best thing you can do for yourself. Someone to help you dig deep and ask yourself the hard questions on why change is hard, and to help you move forward.​​​​​​​​

When things are bad, we can often feel like the world is closing in on us and we don't know how to get out. We feel like we just need to throw an endless pity party for ourselves because it feels like we don't deserve the pain we are in. That was me a few years ago.​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
Then one day I decided to stop making excuses for myself and change my story. I took the time to listen to myself and understand who I wanted to be and what I needed to do to become that person.​​​​​​​​
