Quality personal presence for specialised individual/ group expressive arts therapy and facilitation, online or in-person. For example, turn Depression into
DEEP PRESENCE, DEEPER ESSENCE, DEEP RESONANCE, DEEP RELEASE,
and Depressed, into DEEP REST!!! By reframing the mind and breaking down the original narrative and cause, we can rediscover your true self and reinforce what truly resonates with
you in your newfound freedom and versatility in being your true self outside the shackles of what didn’t serve you.
4 of my main strengths:
Sensitivity; depth of compassion; expansive versatility and intuitive playfulness in creativity interconnecting all art forms and matter; high standards with international exposure and cultural competence. I have facilitated and undergone a great deal of transformation myself, and continue to do so. Everyday, we are changed and anew - “No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it’s not the same river and he’s not the same man.” - Heraclitus
BIO: ARTIST, EDUCATOR, and EXPRESSIVE ARTS THERAPIST (Intermodal Decentering IDEC©)
My journey has clarified my role as a bridge between people and their creative potential in their innermost truth or being, and brought me to a love and life of connecting, understanding myself and thus understanding others through empathic processes. The student or client, as well as the therapeutic relationship, is at the heart of the work, without which nothing can be built. Tapping into the human capacity of infinite potential and creativity as a resource, I can guide people through their fears and blocks, to achieve their goals or what would re-establish energy flow, such as in the form of presence and grounding, self-understanding, resonance, release, rest, insight/inspiration, and healing. TEACHING/ FACILITATION
What I teach/facilitate stems from the amalgamation of all my ‘eureka’ moments of my learnings, a distillation of my lifelong training and interests in a wide range of DANCE, ART, PLAY, ACTING/ THEATRE, human potential, humanity and well-being. It is combined with my intuition for how students/clients inspire me to cater to your needs. My hope is that you will bring your experiences and heightened awareness into your life when you leave each session, without waiting for illness to ignite your ‘personal revolution’ of newfound sensitivity and ownership of your own body. DANCE
My journey in dance has been one where my love for dance became a love for 'movement' itself, with a vision for dance/movement to serve our health and zest for life, adventure and potential as a human being, beyond vanity, performing an aesthetic, for competition or to represent an industry - released from the clutches of defined cultures, labels and economies; to enjoy physical awareness, sensuality and freedom of movement in our daily lives - for ourselves, every day of our lives and to share as a community. BACKGROUND IN ART/ MOVEMENT TRAINING
I trained in Ballet, Jazz/Tap, HipHop/Funk/House, and competed in cross country running, basketball and swimming in my teens. I attended the Ruskin School of Art of Oxford University (UK) for a BFA in Fine Art as a ‘Ho, Leung, Ho, Lee Scholar’, and was winner of the Mitzi Cunliffe Award for the performance video ‘Ode’. Notable additional experiences include: assistant to Toshiharu Kasai/ Itto Morita; founding member of the London Butoh Asylum; trained in BodyWeather with Stuart Lynch, Oguri, Macarena Ortuzar; Butoh Dance with Yukio Waguri, Kae Ishimoto and Café Reason Dance Theatre Company; Qi Gong Ba Duan Jing with Jin Xiang Kui; Grotowski technique with Magda Tuka and Przemek Wasilkowski, and masterclasses with the contemporary dance companies Sakoba, Tavaziva, Hofesh Schechter, Spiegel, Merce Cunningham and others. Additionally performed with Freefall Dance Company, and various artists in London, including an important collaborator Zac Gvirtzman. TOWARDS EXPRESSIVE ARTS THERAPY
After attaining an MA in Movement Directing and Teaching from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama (UK), I began to find my way towards becoming an expressive arts therapist, applying all art forms (visual art, poetry/word, dance/movement, theatre) to support self understanding, empowerment, healing and initiating the creative process in others. I am a member of the International Expressive Arts Therapy Association (IEATA) and have transitioned from the alternative route for training towards certification as Dance/Movement Therapist (Centre for Movement Education and Research, US), to a Masters in Expressive Arts Therapy (with a minor in Psychology) with European Graduate School (EGS), training directly with the pioneers of expressive arts therapy, especially Paolo and Margo Fuchs Knill (among an important full community of others), studying my final year with Stephen and Ellen Levine at The CREATE Institute. Some of the international organisations and events I have worked for in arts performance, education, Intermodal Expressive Arts Therapy, and community art projects, include:
Anakatira (Philippines), C.A.R.E. Samar (Philippines), SickKids Community Centre for Mental Health (Canada), Youth Spirit Artworks (US), WOMAD (UK), International Expressive Arts Therapy Association (IEATA), Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space (Prague, CZ), Islington Chinese Association UK), Christina Noble Foundation (Vietnam), and daCi/WDA Global Dance Summit (Taiwan). In Hong Kong, I have worked with English Schools Foundation/ ESF, Youth Arts Foundation, Po Leung Kuk, Disneyland Hong Kong, Cheung Chau Wave Festival, Secret Island Party, Imagine Peace Festival, Hong Kong Theatresports Festival 2014, All Theatre Art Association, toof [contemporary] gallery, CreativeKids, Pathfinders, and Neo Education Lab.
