English: Change doesn’t happen suddenly. Just as in spring it takes time for a bud to become a flower, my own transformation happens the same way. One thing is certain: change is continuous.
Change happens even when I don’t want it to. The cyclical nature of the natural world is a beautiful example of this. But what happens if I place myself in the position of the observer? If I watch that bud and observe how it slowly opens more and more until it becomes a flower?
I know change is not always beautiful… but taking the role of an outside observer still helps. I practice this myself, for example by observing my body every day. Since my body is also part of nature, a biological being, it is full of change on every level.
Because of this, my practice on the yoga mat is never exactly the same. It always reflects my current physical and mental state.
Sometimes I practice this by simply going for a walk in the park and observing nature.
What I’ve written about change may sound cliché or spiritual, but in reality it is a real physical, biological process that happens in both small and big ways throughout our lives. It is natural.
So I remind myself that whatever change is happening in my life, I can choose to be its observer rather than its sufferer and that change is always present.
