BREAKING NEWS: The First Success Story Treating Bartonellosis with Rifabutin in Hungary

Hello Everyone!

I have great news to share: the first patient in Hungary has achieved microbiological recovery from bartonellosis with the help of rifabutin. The treatment began with Phase I of the Mozayeni protocol, but as shown in the therapy control chart below, it became necessary to switch to Phase II around the 7th month, which included rifabutin. In this phase, after another 18 months, antibody levels dropped to those typical of healthy individuals. It’s important to note that this is considered a relatively short duration among patients who need the Phase II protocol, as the therapeutic period is more commonly 3-4 years for them. A measurement taken 2 months later still showed negative results, so the treating physician made the justified decision to stop the therapy. Now, the rifabutin tapering protocol can begin, followed by the regeneration and rehabilitation phase. This offers every chance that the patient will be clinically symptom-free within six months.

I sincerely congratulate the patient and hope this encouraging news brings optimism to all our group members undergoing treatment with rifabutin. I wish them continued perseverance.
If anyone needs help getting through bartonellosis as quickly as possible while minimizing costs, feel free to reach out! :)

Here is an insightful comparative case study on Bartonella. Here, we can compare the course of two therapies, with both patients receiving the same Stratton protocol. Microbiological recovery can be declared when the antibody levels fall below the cut-off value (10), at which point the therapy can be concluded, as it wouldn’t make sense to continue. As you can see in the case on the left, recovery occurred by the 12th month. However, in the case on the right, it's the opposite: over time, increasingly effective antibiotic combinations reach even the bacteria that had previously escaped into biofilms, stimulating a stronger immune response. It’s clear that in the case on the right, the therapy cannot be concluded, as recovery has not yet occurred.
The only difference between the two cases was the patient, which exemplifies how the course of the disease and recovery depends entirely on the so-called “host response.” The composition and duration of successful therapy are not carved in stone, and only precise therapy control can provide the current status of recovery. In a conversation with Dr. Mozayeni at an ILADS conference, he said that a doctor who proceeds with therapy without follow-up has no idea what they’re doing – for instance, he conducts control tests every 3 months for his own patients.
If anyone would like to have their Bartonella recovery objectively monitored, to get a clear picture of where they stand, whether their therapy is effective, and how long it might take, feel free to reach out!
