10th Feb Saturday

It’s my first Saturday off since I arrived at the end of November. Initially I’d have Tuesday or any random weekday off (that my predecessor, Anita, agreed to).

When she left I realised it made more sense for me to take Fridays off as that’s usually a quieter day (as some guests go out at the weekends) so I’d been doing that but this week I opted for Saturday (for various reasons) which meant that I worked for 7 days straight - coupled with and intense start to this new retreat, today’s new moon (and a bit of everything) - I’ve found myself pretty low on energy so I’m really looking forward to today.

The sun is just rising and I’m back at my favourite spot - on the outdoor bed on our balcony - watching the colours behind the trees turn from pitch black to this beautiful violet first.

Last night I went out with some of the girls from the retreat - it was a blast I tell you. My friend, Tara, told us about this event called Ecstatic Dance that’s happening on a regular basis in Arambol so the 5 of us went there and danced our little booties off.

5 of us women I should say as maybe only one of us would qualify for the status “girl” - Summer who is 24 and she’s from New Zealand. I love her Kiwi accent and the way she speaks. I find her also very easy going - which makes me very calm and light as well.

Maryam is something else, I mean she literally said to me the other night that she thought we must have been twins in a previous life (and it almost made me cry). She’s one of the funniest I’ve ever met, she was a famous actress in Holland and now she’s just retired last year at the age of 38. She’s had enough of the toxic environment and industry. However, she’s blessing us with her acting skills every single day - I mean she is hilarious - and now she’s writing satires. (Can’t wait to read one of her books).

And Rosa - oh Rosa is an absolute goddess - she’s beautiful and has the most beautiful energy. We even have a friend in common who’s another dear soul sister of mine - Emese from Hungary whom I met in Mysore many moons ago now and connected deeply with. Rosa and Maryam are both from Holland (and so is Tara) but they come from very different backgrounds and I love how colourful and vibrant our little circle is.

So danced, drank some cacao I prepared earlier, connected with ourselves and each other, it was a beautiful experience. We were all exhausted from the days before - the intense practice with Laruga - and so we headed home around 10pm as soon as it finished and we were in bed by 11ish probably.

It was a good night had and my heart and soul are full.

Looking forward to the day ahead, no practice today, some relaxation, nice breakfast and a lovely, nourishing day with myself (and maybe other) recharging the batteries in preparation for week number 2 with Laruga. 1 down, 3 to go.

And a special shout out to my London bestie, Amel Edris- happy birthday, I love you 🥰❤️🫶🏼😘

(6:36 the colour was just changing to pink and now at 6:53 the sun is almost up so it’s nice and bright, 10 more minutes till sunrise 🌅)

Travel diaries volume 2024
Chapter 2
Day 6

5:47

So I wanted to write a couple days ago (and I did but I wrote this other post in Hungarian..) but not had time since then to churn one out (in English).

So Sunday morning hit very different this time…

6:17
Even now - time is passing so quickly. Does anyone know how to stop it? I remember dreaming about having a device that stops time - like literally in my dreams I’d be able to stop it and everyone and everything stopped except for those people / items I touched at the time of activating the device. That’d be so much fun if I could have one of those.

Anyhow, I was saying how this Sunday hit different and it was because my fairy GodSon and his mum just left as I was typing my previous (Hungarian) post. I was sitting here at my usual spot (like I’m doing now as well). And knew I was gonna miss them terribly. It was such a wonder to have them here for 3 days. Those 3 days just flew by as well, it was like a dream as well. It was packed with all sorts of fun - we went to the beach, I showed them around my neighbourhood and the kitchen I manage here at Purple Valley. It was a ton of fun (and a lot of work in a sense as I shared previously). However, I feel more and more aligned with all aspects of my life and feel like everything is happening now that I used just dream about.

Govinda always says about the thin layer between the dream world and our real world. What is real anyway? I’m not gonna get into that topic right now but I just want to brain dump.

My days have been completely full on and with Laruga here now our motto is “work hard, laugh hard”. And boy are we doing that. A dear friend of mine, Tara is also here at the retreat now for the next month and I’m loving her around - we do laugh a lot and not just with her but a couple other people I just met. Mariam and Rosa - both from the Netherlands 🇳🇱 are such fun women, I luuuuuuurve having them around. We shared a lil laugh yesterday in the morning and then continued at the dinner table. What fun! OMG.

Anywho, it’s 6:28 so I’m off to get ready, practice starts in 30 mins.

Lots of love,
Lili

Útinapló 1. Rész 1. Fejezet

Mandatory cuddles with Catvari on the bed outside. She likes to curl up right next to me these days for snuggles and purrs. I love her to bits, she’s the most adorable little kitty with super soft fur.

Yesterday I called her a bitch though because she’s always meowing and the guests are asking if we ever feed them. And boy do we feed them. Yes, I feed her and 2 hours later she’s already meowing 😸

So yeah, I’d said it. She’s a bitch. Haha.

I can also be a bitch sometimes. And funnily enough I’m happy to show more and more this side of myself to the world. I’m not ashamed of it, I’m not always nice and if you cross me trust me I’ll come for you. Haha.

I’m a good witch and a bad bitch 😉

Anywho, I wanted to tell you about a small accident I’d had on Saturday. So I’d just been reflecting on how I needed to slow down, sit down for meals and just generally take more time for myself (I’d been busy with attending an Ayurvedic course, taking over the kitchen from our previous head chef - oh yes, have I told you btw I’m now officially head chef 👩🏼‍🍳 woop woop 🙌🏼 and life in general). Cuz life’s been lifing over here in Goa.

So I finished my breakfast on Saturday quickly (yes the one I was posting about - check my previous post), jumped on my scooter and headed towards school. It’s literally 200 metres from here and managed to drive into the back of a bus! It was my fault because, even though they stopped very suddenly in front of me, I was probably too close and driving too fast so I couldn’t stop. Literally. So the universe stopped me, luckily no real harm was done, I only bumped my right knee a little bit but it healed pretty fast. The oh scary thing was that the bus driver came right up to my face scolding me and although I tried to apologise he was having none of it. He tried to tell me how I needed to pay for the damages (which is laughable as I didn’t think it was even a thing - the bus only had a couple scratches). Anyway, I’ve never had an accident in India before so I wasn’t sure about the protocols (I only had 1 accident about a year and a half ago after driving for nearly 20 years now) but I told him that we should call the police and sort it out. He didn’t seem very keen on the idea so I just stood there waiting for things to unfold as I sure as hell wasn’t gonna pay him anything. I looked around and about a hundred local men surrounded us so I was slightly worried what was gonna happen. And then, out of nowhere, my saviour appeared, this man I know from work got there and stood right next to me talking to the bus driver (in Hindi) trying to calm the situation. Then another 2-3 people from work got there (luckily it all happened nearby) and even my manger, Kris came (he was just on his way to work bless him). I tried to tell him what had happened but I don’t think I was making any sense at the time. I was pretty flustered by that point and just wanted to get out of the situation after standing there for 10-15 minutes. Apparently Chandan also told them about calling the police (which I didn’t know at the time as my Hindi is pretty rusty 😆) but I took the bus driver’s number and told them we’ll sort it out later as I had to go. I jumped on my scooter and drove off.

I’m not sure what happened after but I was pretty shaken up - I got my first wake up call as white woman in India. I never felt threatened or unsafe before. Lucky for me, as soon as Chandan arrived I felt calm and protected. He’s a very tall man with powerful masculine energy so thank God he was nearby and arrived first to the scene.

I drove to school and sat outside for 5 minutes. I was pretty angry and upset about the whole situation and as soon as the adrenaline left my body I could feel that I actually hurt my knee and it started to discolour. Luckily it was just bruised and almost completely healed now.

Since then I’m taking things much slower and not rushing anywhere - if I’m late from class or anywhere then I’m late. On Monday I was 3 hours late because I took the morning for myself. I actually sat down for breakfast this time (unlike on Saturday when I was just posting about it), enjoyed a nice bike ride 🏍️ on the back of a Royal Enfield Bullet, a nice coffee at this very fancy place called Mojigao and a lovely conversation with 3 beautiful women and 2 beautiful children.

And now, I’m just waiting for my sister and nephew to get this evening from Mysore. I’m picking them up from the airport and can’t wait to hug them.

6am, off to praccy.

Travel Diaries part 2/2

4:20
22nd Jan Monday

Catvari cuddles up to me as I write this. She’s also very fond of this cute little spot outside on the terrace I think she actually sleeps on this bed at night 😀
She’s such a little ball of love - she really is the cutest. We’ve accepted each other and actually more than that, we’re cuddle buddies now ❤️🤗

She’s purring right now next to me. Such a blessing and such a wonderful little animal.

I want to tell you about yesterday though - I’ve had such a lovely day with 5 of us women at “La Plage”.

My day started in the kitchen at 7 am preparing breakfast / brunch for the new group, Ty’s 2nd part of the retreat just started on Saturday with a few new guests (some of them are staying from the first two weeks and some of them left) so I think the total is somewhere around 40 guests now).

I was then done by 11ish and was picked up by my lovely friend/soul sister Jane at 11.30. She’s such a wonderful human being - driving a car around here at the age of 75 as if she was one of the locals - I mean she really is one of the locals now having spent 6 months here every year for the last 20 years or so.

We went to Morjim - she was invited to one of her friends’ house that has a beautiful infinity pool overlooking some palm trees 🌴

Had an orange juice by the pool and a quick dip (what a treat, I tell you!) and then Ewa, Jane’s friend, Ewa’s mum Jolanta and my friend Edit joined us to go to the beach. We all fit in to Jane’s car so we didn’t even have to walk. What a life! 5 ladies arrived in style to “La Plage” - this place is gorgeous and a bit more on the fancy side especially for Goa / India I find.

Anywho, I was loving every minute of it, Jolanta looked like a million bucks, she’s definitely the most posh out of the 5 of us - thinking about now we must have looked like the Spice Girls to the locals or rather as Old Spice hahahaha. Jolanta as Posh Spice, Edit as the Baby one, Ewa as Sporty and that leaves Jane as Ginger and me as Scary of course! Haha.

We settled down on our loungers first by the ocean (now I wish I’d taken pictures!) then later we went for lunch (we have Kingfish ceviche and Tuna! Mmmmm. Both are to die for! So delicious. The chef is amazing and yes, I’m a very bad lady for eating fish but oh it felt so good being bad hahahaha).

Anyhow, I’m going to wrap the story up now as it’s 4:44 and I’m headed to practice in a minute - just like we wrapped our day up with a quick dip in the ocean after our late lunch, said our goodbyes and headed home just in time for sunset.

Have a blessed day lovelies.
