Struggling with sleep?
It’s not just in your head, it’s actually in your nervous system.

When your body is stuck in “on” mode (fight, flight, or freeze), rest doesn’t come easy.
Trying to force sleep usually doesn't work, you need to help your system calm down or feel safe enough to relax.

Gentle regulation = deeper rest.
✨ Think breathwork, somatic touch, or even a slow walk before bed.

Your body wants to rest, it just needs the right support 🤍

Another year around the sun, another layer shed. My birthday was last week, and I took some time to reflect.

Some insights I’m carrying into this next chapter:

🌸 Who you choose to surround yourself with matters deeply

🌸 Slowing down isn’t falling behind

🌸 The most important relationship you’ll ever have is with yourself

🌸 Your nervous system will always tell the truth, even when your mind tries to override it

🌸 Softness is strength when it’s rooted in self-trust

🌸 Not everything requires your energy, explanation, or presence

🌸 Joy doesn’t always arrive loud—it often whispers in the quiet moments

About Nuraan

Nuraan is a trauma-focused psychotherapist with extensive experience working with early childhood trauma, sexual abuse, addiction and complex PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress). Although she specialises in trauma recovery she also works

She completed her Psychology degree at the University of Cape Town and has worked at centres for abused women and children in South Africa. She has additional training in CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), somatic bodywork and trauma-focused counselling.

Working as a trauma therapist she started noticing patterns and could see clearly that the most effective tools for helping clients were a body centred approach. Trying to heal trauma only from the level of the mind simply didn’t work. Early on Nuraan felt that the role of the body in mental health was undervalued and this motivated her to focus on a therapeutic approach that combines the strengths of talk therapy with body focused tools. This is how Somatic Therapy.Co was born.

For the past few years Nuraan has been based in Thailand. She’s worked at various treatment centers including The Cabin and The Dawn. She is currently the Trauma Therapist at The Compass, a women’s recovery program. Nuraan is part of the Daughters Rising team, a women’s empowerment anti sex-trafficking organisation. These days she commits most of her time to organising trainings and healing retreats. Nuraan also offers face to face and online therapy and coaching.
