Looking back to this time last year…

Acknowledging your journey, with all the changes, highs and lows, by looking back at the past as a reference point to see just how far you’ve come, can be a beautiful practice of self love and internal acceptance💛

As humans our basic need is to be loved and accepted for who we are~ when experiences lead us to believe that we are not enough or safe to be our authentic self, we move through life seeking validation from external sources- career or financial success, partners, how our body is perceived…
How would your life change if you can honour all that you are and give yourself that love and acceptance for all that you’ve been through to bring you here to this present moment today?

I look in wonder back to last year, my first time in Bali and having just graduated from my yoga training teaching my first ever class, to today…fulfilling my purpose- bringing yoga and it’s gifts to others on this beautiful island where I’m continually inspired with so many wonderful people around me, that I truly feel at home 💛

This journey really hasn’t been without it strains and trials but sitting here today, I hope you can see the beauty in your journey too

Prarthana ~ in Sanskrit translates to ‘prayer’ 🙏🏽

Yoga can come into and exist in your life due to personal meaning, giving many individual reasons why we chose to practice

Recently in conversation with we were sharing our ‘why’s’ for practicing yoga each day…
It brings me home to myself, it heals, it allows me to express, tune into my body and out of my mind…
One of my shared reasons stuck with me profoundly and which I now feel so intensely every time I chose to come to the mat…

This is that for me yoga is my form of Prarthana or prayer~ where my whole being (mind, body and spirit) comes into deeper alignment and through my intention, breath and movement I can express deep gratitude, ask for guidance, forgiveness and blessing from what is greater~ whether to you this symbolises God, the universe, nature, higher consciousness…

My yoga practice is my sacred space and I hope it can bring meaning beyond its physicality to you too ✨💛

Healing isn’t born in isolation, but within connection🫱🏼‍🫲🏽💕

There is deep comfort to be found in knowing that we are not alone. That whilst our experiences are unique to us, others have walked similar paths.

I believe there is nothing more beautiful than fully seeing, and being seen by, someone with all your parts bared open…and holding eachother unconditionally♥️

Feeling leads to healing ❤️‍🩹

Wrapped in so much love, reuniting with a very special friend yesterday, we both were looking back in awe at both our journeys to where we are today after meeting through a very low time in both our lives

One thing we both live by now is to feel it ALL…to ride the waves that sometimes glisten with sunlight as well as the ones that have a dark depth and surge to them…that opening ourselves up to feel the parts of ourselves we pushed down so deep, allowed us to heal, accept, see a strange beauty and lesson in those parts we kept hidden… and to step fully into our truest selves and love our life!🌊

Remember your “WHY” and how that why made you feel when you first started. Let the essence of your why grow to fill your entire body, driving you forward to where YOU KNOW you’re meant to be 💛

This “WHY” can apply to anything that resonates with you- a career path, lifestyle change, relationship decision, mental or physical health recovery, goals, resolutions…

As time passes you can loose your why for starting, as it becomes diluted in the business of life or due to set backs, emotions, self doubt or loosing your connection with who you are entirely
It’s during these difficult times that it’s so important to reconnect to yourself and how you want your life to look and feel like, giving you courage to keep going 💛🤛🏽

See pausing as productivity 🧘🏽✨

We really need to challenge our programmed and societal mindset that always “doing” and feeling the need “to do more” equals success

One of my reasons for moving to Bali, was due to my self discovery~ that a slower, more peaceful and mindful way of life personally brings me more happiness.
In my previous careers as a dancer and a nurse, whilst also living in the city of bustling life, London, I was consumed and surrounded by this overwhelming pressure to always be “doing more”. I felt like I was on a continual hamster wheel, where self care, devoting time to what fills my heart and truly being able to appreciate the beauty of life and all it’s wonders was severely lacking.
In periods of struggling with my mental health I would feel extremely guilty about an unable to “rest”, “pause” and just “be”.

I now value slowing down the most
It brings my whole being and life into balance
I find I am 100X more energised, inspired, creative and therefore productive, when I prioritise it, as my I have the chance to pause and listen to myself

I’m definitely not suggesting you need to move to a different country to feel this way, but just begin to ask yourself:
- “In what environment to I feel most myself and at peace?”
- “What does rest feel like or look like to me?”
- “How can I create space to slow down?”

Take this as a sign to enjoy slowing down more 🧘🏽👌🏽

✨Follow feeling over thinking ✨

Yoga~ through meditation, movement, stillness, mindfulness, conscious breathing and living thoughtfully~ without sounding dramatic, truly saved my life
Connecting to, and truly feeling through it and all my senses, has brought me back home to myself and to the joy of living 💛

For many years by body became my enemy, when it should be your friend
I was disconnected from it
My thoughts dominant- clouding any natural intuitions with thick black fog, due to prior learnt experiences, pressure, expectations, “I should’s” and “I should not’s”…
I became numb to protect myself, fleeing from uncomfortable emotions and sensations in my body, through various coping mechanisms

Being numb to and escaping our feelings, we lose life itself…
It passes us by with all its beautiful varying shades of colour, and these precious moments and years in our short time on this earth, we cannot get back

✨Yoga came into my life at the time I needed it the most
Whilst unbearable at times, I practiced sitting with myself…
~ With stillness, I dropped into my body, feeling into it and the emotions and sensations present
~ With breath, I soothed and welcomed them, allowing them to exist and be~ their heaviness and influence being lesser
~ With movement (guided by the breath), I let them flow through me, expressed in physical form by the body
~ My senses were alive, I was reconnecting to my bodies natural guidance system as well as the beauty of the world around me with deep gratitude

I urge you to say hello to your feelings, rather than run from them
I urge you to make peace with your body, your biggest knowledge and guidance system for life

Your body is your home for the time we have here, and I can only hope by sharing this with you, that you are able to make it a loving one🏡

We often think that big life events, exciting occasions and plans will bring us the most happiness…

These may indeed spark great peaks of uplift, however don’t forgot about the everyday and extremely small, upmost unnoticeable~
Savouring a cup of fresh coffee, the tenderness of human touch, eye contact, reading beautiful words, a text from a loved one, fresh air after the rain, the sensation of water on the skin, how your breath fills and moves through you…

Notice joy in the small, see how these moments start to overlap, fill your day and become the big, fullness and happiness you were always looking for when in fact it was right in front of you, and within you ✨
