No flights, no traffic, no lights, no noise – just total silence 🌙
Nyepi, the Balinese New Year, is also known as the ‘Day of Silence.’ It’s a special day of reflection, cleansing, and peace that takes over the whole island. 🕊️ But before the silence, Bali celebrates Melasti – a beautiful ritual of purification held at the sea.
Here’s what you need to know 👇
📅 Nyepi this year is from Saturday, March 29th at 6am to Sunday, March 30th at 6am.
✨ Nyepi is a day when Bali goes completely silent – the perfect time to meditate, reflect, and reset.
✈️ No travel allowed, and everyone stays indoors. Airports and ports close for the day too!
📍 Nyepi is celebrated across Bali and the Nusa Islands.
💡 No lights allowed! Everything must be kept dark, and no loud noises while the island embraces its peaceful stillness.
🏨 Hotels operate quietly, with limited services or special Nyepi packages, and visitors must stay inside.
🌊 Melasti, a cleansing ceremony, happens before Ogoh-Ogoh and Nyepi, where people gather at the sea to purify themselves and sacred temple objects.
👹 The night before Nyepi, there's the exciting Ogoh-Ogoh parade, where giant demon figures are carried through the streets and burned to drive away bad energy.
🌍 Nyepi is one of the most eco-friendly days on Earth.
We absolutely love Nyepi! It’s a magical time to experience Bali, offering a perfect opportunity for reflection, meditation, and renewal. 🌸🧘♂️
