What an absolute honour it is to be in a position to support the lads take on such an incredible challenge. When Canice initially reached out about this partnership I honestly couldn’t have said yes fast enough. The keyboard was on fire as I typed up my response to be involved as it is something that resonates so deeply on a personal level and with all families across the country. Breast cancer is not just physical, it’s goes far beyond that and impacts the hearts and minds of those experiencing it as well as their loved ones. It’s a battle of mental resilience that resonates with every single home in the country. Check out the above video and the below for more info:

On Wednesday the 27th of May, & Robert Fitzsimons are taking on a challenge to raise much needed funds, and just as importantly, to raise awareness for 🎗️
They’re starting our journey in Ashbourne Co Meath and running 250km all the way up to the beautiful coastal village of Glencolmcille in Co. Donegal. That’s 50km a day (a marathon - and change!) for 5 days straight.
The reason behind it is very deeply personal for the lads. This year marks the 30th anniversary of losing their Mam, Rita Fitzsimons to breast cancer. Rita’s anniversary has spurred them on to stick on their running shoes and do something amazing to honour her - but it’s not the only reason.
The lads both feel very strongly that awareness can save lives. If something doesn’t feel right, if a lump is found, knowing what to do and acting quickly can make all the difference in making the disease treatable and less life threatening.
Right now, 1 in 7 women in Ireland will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime, with over 3,500 new cases every year. When you really think about it, there isn’t a family in Ireland that hasn’t been affected in some way. Shocking how that reads, isn’t it?
Fundraisers like this don’t just raise money, they genuinely do raise awareness, lead to better treatments and help research cures. This is their way of giving back, and of honouring their Mam. We hope this helps to raise funds and to help protect the amazing women in all of our lives.
