Balbriggan and District Athletic Club will host the first Balbriggan Shamrock Dash this St Patrick's Day, Tuesday March 17th. A unique opportunity to run the 1.3km parade route is open to everyone. A race the entire community of Balbriggan can take part in.

The race will start promptly at 11:30am, shortly before the beginning of the parade.

Our community is building something modern, practical & lifesaving. Here’s an incredible effort from Balbriggan Scouts, 34th/161st Dublin member Alex in aid of Pieta. Ending Su***de. Beginning Hope
An interesting challenge, hope Alex brings a camera so we get to see this beautiful landscape ❤️ well done all 💪🏼

Our Rover Alex will be attempting to run the Wicklow way in 3 days or less. I will be doing it solo and unsupported. Running, eating and camping in the mountains. It is 130km and elevation of 5000 meter of incline which is equivalent to Everest base camp or hiking Europe's highest mountain (4800). All in an effort to raise funds for Pieta House.

During the month of January, Meath Coast CFR were notified of 20 emergency calls across our community.

💡 Did you know?
We are the only registered Community First Responder group in the area that both installs public defibrillators and respond to 999/112 emergency calls in:

📍 Laytown
📍 Mornington
📍 Donacarney
📍 Julianstown
📍 Colpe / Grangerath

We are a volunteer-led service, on call 365 days a year, day and night, providing early care and support alongside the National Ambulance Service (NAS), handing patients over to Paramedics on arrival.

We’re close to ordering the Solar Powered Cabinet for the Martello Tower area. The aim is to install a ZOLL 3 defibrillator, as this has a paediatric switch.

Total planned investment will be €3,400. Thanks to the continued efforts of bottle & can collections, the community will get this over the line. The continued support is appreciated and we are seeing exceptional results.

Balbriggan’s residential defibrillators are within 3-5 minutes of ‘Walken’. Be sure to familiarise yourself with your closest residential defibrillator. 💚 Impact:
Thanks to local recycling ♻️ & donations, 16 AEDs are already active, with the global ambition that 95% of the community will have 24/7 accessibility within minutes, with solar-powered and new sites expanding coverage even further. Real community action, one of the many protective measures planned within the largest volunteer programme in Balbriggan’s history.
