Summary -
Energy psychology, particularly Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), has gained attention as an effective treatment for posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The authors conducted a review of several studies to evaluate the effectiveness of EFT in reducing PTSD symptoms. This analysis included 13 studies with 621 participants and followed established reporting guidelines. The findings showed that EFT significantly improved PTSD symptoms compared to baseline levels and was more effective than control treatments. Additionally, EFT also helped reduce anxiety and depression, with these benefits lasting up to three months after treatment. A further analysis of veterans revealed that EFT was particularly effective in reducing PTSD, anxiety, and depression in this group. In conclusion, EFT is a promising treatment for PTSD and its associated symptoms, with effects that can last for several months, especially in veteran populations.
