✨WHAT ON EARTH DOES BALANCING BLOOD SUGARS MEAN?✨

And what does it have to do with me?

I hear you. It's typical NT speak really. But it does matter!

What we eat, or don't eat, can have a huge impact on our energy levels. If you feel tired after you eat, or are reaching out for something to keep you going at 4pm cos you can't go on (and there's still so much to do!) then you need to look at what's on your plate.

Different foods have different knock-on affects on our energy.
Some will give us the boost we need, but then we need a top-up an hour later
Others will leave us feeling shaky, drained and irritable

Whereas on the other hand, there are foods that will give energy without the nasty side-effects.
Foods that will keep you clear headed, able to deal with the next thing that throws a spanner in the works.

Getting that balance right isn't hard, nor does it involve lots of cooking, food prep or special diet.

Starting small, with small tweaks to your meals will have your blood sugars balanced so you can cope with what life throws at you.

We're all busy, right? We've a heavy workload between our jobs and then our family life on tops of that, and we want to do the best we can for everything! When it comes to achieving that what's the one thing that you need that would make this much easier?

✨ YOU DON'T WANT TO BE HEALTHIER✨

You're not sick. You don't have any medical complaints.

BUT you just want the energy so that at the end of a busy day or week you can get on with the things you love doing and live your life.

Just like you don't need an improved sleep routine, but getting out of bed that little bit easier would be powerful.

We may not feel sick in the true sense of the word, but that doesn't mean we're giving our bodies the care and attention they rightly deserve.

Nourishing our body, even with little steps and tweaks here and there CAN have a powerful knock-effect and improve your energy, or rejuvenate your sleep, or have less painful periods.

WHAT TO EXPECT (OR NOT) WHEN WORKING WITH ME:

I want see you reclaiming your energy and thriving in your everyday, but before we work together I also want you to understand what you can expect from working with me and what you won’t get.

❌ For starters, I don’t do prescription-type food plans – I find them too restrictive, complicated to follow and generally someone else’s view of what they ‘think’ someone should eat.

🌱 I’m not here to add to your to-do list by making different meals from everyone else. Just little tweaks to what you currently eat can make all the difference. Understanding why you’re making that change and feeling the difference is what counts.

❌ Specific diets are also not my thing. Yes, they can be great and support many health complaints, but if that’s what you’re looking for then it’s not me.

🌱 Instead, I’m looking to add in lots of various foods across the food groups in a way that’s simple and easy to do in your already overstretched day. By making simple changes and listening to your body you’ll know what’s working and what isn’t.

❌While I may suggest a supplement, it’ll only be if I think it’ll help. Supplements can be great, but that’s just it - they supplement the journey to your better health alongside food and lifestyle supports. Not instead of.

❌And lastly, I’m not here for the quick fix. Yes, I expect you to see changes in your energy quickly, but I want these changes to be everlasting for you. That means building on the basics so that your body is now more in sync, and it’s doing what it’s meant to do. It’s also about making sure you’re listening to your body and that these basics are now positive habits you’re not going to want to break!

Helping women like you to be at their best no matter what stage they’re at in life is something that I’m passionate about. We have a tendency to put ourselves last on the list when it comes to care and attention and that has to change.

✨ WHY DO WE NEED TO FOCUS ON IMPROVING GUT HEALTH?✨

When we hear gut health and needing to improve it, we think immunity, less bloating, less IBS or constipation. But did you know the health of your gut could also be affecting your periods, PMS or the transition into perimenopause? 🤔

This is something I'll be covering in detail in week 3 of the Nourished Nutrition Reset course, because I think it's something that most women are not aware of.

Our gut health can impact our hormonal health in many ways.
🌱 Constipation - when our hormones are processed by the liver, they get moved to the bowel and kidneys for removal. BUT if you're constipated they can get re-absorbed from the gut back into the body, causing higher levels of oestrogen in relation to progesterone, increasing PMS

🌱 Bacteria overgrowth - some bacteria can convert Testosterone in Oestrogen in the gut, making more Oestrogen and increasing PMS.

If you suffer with IBS type symptoms, it could be higher, or too low, levels of Oestrogen that could be making this worse, by increasing bloating, constipation or diarrhoea.

There many ways to support better hormonal health, and balancing your gut microbes is one way.
