€80 million has been spent on IPAS centres in Mayo in just two years (2024–2025).

€80 million in one county alone on a system that, according to the Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General, has serious governance and financial oversight issues.

The Minister needs to clean this mess up.

I was on RTÉ One this afternoon speaking up for rural commuters and families being hammered by the cost of fuel.

Fuel costs are simply too high. Up to 65% of the price at the pump is government taxation.

Home heating oil has risen by approximately 85%. The proposed pause in NORA (2c per litre) is meaningless, particularly in the context of another carbon tax increase this May.

We in Aontú are calling for the scrapping of the carbon tax and a fairer, more balanced approach to fuel taxation.

The Comhaltas Celebration Concert was a powerful reminder of our vibrant culture and the next generation of exceptional Irish traditional musicians emerging here in Mayo and across Connacht.

The young musicians who earned All‑Ireland Fleadh Cheoil titles in 2025 were celebrated in Claremorris, and their talent, dedication and passion was incredible.

Go raibh míle maith agaibh to Breege Gleeson and everyone involved in organising such a special evening. And to all within Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann whose work plays such a powerful role in promoting our heritage & culture.

Maith sibh go léir - táimid an‑bhródúil asaibh.

Today in the Dáil, I called on the Government to reduce the taxation on energy.

Fuel costs are out of control. Hitting workers and rural communities hardest. Most people have no choice but to drive to work.

The taxation on fuel is excessive and must be reduced.

Today in the Dáil I paid tribute to the late Dolores Keane who passed away in recent days. She was a woman of the people from humble beginnings who went on to get success and made an enormous contribution to the music scene in this country. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam 🙏

The public meeting in Newport this week sent a strong message.

For those along the coast who could not make it on the night, please feel free to contact me directly with any concerns or questions.

Fresh statistics released to me show there's been a massive rise in the amount of Brazilian beef imported into Ireland. There are serious questions to be answered over this ⚠️

The cost of filling a car is now over €100 - and €65 of that is tax.

Fuel taxes hit low and middle-income earners - and rural Ireland - the hardest.

In 2024 the Government collected €4.1 billion in fuel taxes, including €1 billion in Carbon Tax, even as 300,000 families fell into energy arrears.

Now, despite rising energy costs, another Carbon Tax increase is planned in just six weeks.

Families who are already struggling should not be squeezed further by the Government.

Irish farmers produce some of the best food in the world using some of the most sustainable systems anywhere.

Farming is the lifeblood of the rural economy and a cornerstone of our heritage. It must be protected.

Major headwinds lie ahead: changes to CAP, Mercosur, unfair trading practices, food labelling, land consolidation and more.

We must protect family farms, support consumers and safeguard the rural economy.
