My soul is ageless.
Sometimes I wake up and I'm five.
I still want to believe in magic and pixie dust...
Sometimes I wake up and I'm 15.
I have strength and I feel I can change the world...
Sometimes I wake up and I'm 30.
I step on the earth, but I know I can fly...
Sometimes I wake up and I'm 60.
I have the experience and I want to share.
Offer the tranquility and wisdom of time,
that doesn't stop, that heals, that heals...
Sometimes I wake up and I don't know how old I am and
nor how many passed.,,
And it's in the soul, full of love and memories
that I feel all ages,
showing me a rich and precious life.
And that's where I find my great treasure,
a beautiful patchwork quilt,
unique, original and that bears my signature.
And on it is written:
"LIFE!''

Just some safety advice and tips , as the weather takes a turn for the cold side , which we haven’t seen in almost 3 years . Water is below 9c and dropping and air temps will be down to -3c with frost and sleet and possibly snow . Many of you who are newish to Traditional Winter Swimming will not have experienced this before .
When you are going for a dip or swim , stay as warm as you can for as long as you can before you get in the water . Wearing 2 swim hats will reduce brain freeze ( a bit 🙄)
Never swim alone , go in a group if you can or at least have someone watching you .
If you are dipping ,try to stay moving in the water , a bit of aqua jogging is good . And if you are swimming stay within your depth along by the shore .
The cold easterly breeze will strip any heat right out of you and catch you before you know it .
A good rule of thumb in these conditions is 1 minute per degree of water temp . Currently 9c but expect 7 to 8 by the weekend . Another trick is to try and whistle ...if you can’t ..get out !
Bring a bottle of warm water to pour on your feet afterwards ...trust me 🥶😄
Get dried off and dressed in warm loose clothing and a warm hat as quickly you can . Your fingers will be numb and not working as normal for tying shoes , zips etc .
Dont use a lockbox for your keys as you may not be able to open it with cold fingers .
Have a hot drink .
Don’t drive until you have warmed up ..shivering is a normal process of warming up . And please tell someone if you feel unwell ! Stay safe and enjoy it ! Remember ..you are responsible for you every time you decide to enter the water ! Kevin
Edit ...
“In English, the phrase rule of thumb refers to an approximate method for doing something, based on practical experience rather than theory”

The Irish are tough, it's why there are 80 million of us around the world making the Irish diaspora one of the largest of any nation! 🥰
