Celebrating the Season of Creation at College View Nursing Home
From September 1st to October 4th, we celebrate the beauty of our world. Our residents collected flowers and natural treasures from the garden and created a special display area to showcase their wonderful finds.
Such a lovely way to connect with nature. 🌿

We had a wonderful Onam party recently. Our residents enjoyed the festivities, music from Mary Harwood, and lots of laughter together.

Last Wednesday, some of our College View Nursing Home residents enjoyed a lovely outing to the Forget-Me-Not Café in Cavan . 💜

It was a wonderful opportunity to share chats, laughter, and refreshments in a warm and welcoming space. Days like these are so important for connection and friendship, and everyone came home with smiles on their faces. 😊☕️🍰

Onam Celebrations at College View Nursing Home 🌸

Onam is an ancient Hindu festival from Kerala, India, that celebrates the rice harvest. Today, it is embraced by people of all faiths – Hindus, Christians, and Malayali Muslims – as a time of unity, joy, and cultural pride. This year it runs from Tuesday, Aug 26, 2025, to Friday, Sep 5, 2025
To mark the occasion, our residents created beautiful, colourful mandala pictures, which we used to surprise our Indian staff. It was a wonderful moment of togetherness, filled with smiles and appreciation.

A Special Celebration at College View Nursing Home 🌹

This past Saturday, we had the great pleasure of celebrating Elsie’s 85th birthday. A wonderful milestone, filled with joy, warmth, and good wishes from all of us here at College View.

A look back at Nursing Homes Week 2025 (August 18th to 24th) in College View Nursing Home College, Cavan. This year’s theme, “A Taste of Home”, celebrated the meals and traditions that shaped our residents’ lives – the people who cooked them, the moments they marked, and the joy they continue to bring. ❤️
📸 Here’s a little round-up in photos of our some of the week's of celebrations:
🌱 Our wonderful housekeeper Kathleen brought in fresh vegetables from her garden, along with a delicious pot of homemade blackcurrant jam.
🧁 On Saturday (2nd last day of the celebrations), residents and staff baked up a storm for Sunday’s afternoon tea – fairy cakes filled with Kathleen’s homemade blackberry jam and topped with lemon butter icing, plus a classic Victoria sponge with lemon buttercream.
☕ We rounded off the week on Sunday with Afternoon Tea in the foyer and a special slideshow of all our Nursing Homes Week memories. Residents loved seeing themselves baking, chatting, and celebrating together.

It was a truly special week filled with warmth, community, and joy – celebrating our College View Residents and Staff. 💕

Nursing Homes week is an initiative of Nursing Homes Ireland and is an annual celebration.

Yesterday (Wednesday) we had not one but two wonderful birthday girls at College View Nursing Home Cavan — Ann and Kathleen 🎂🎂And they celebrated in style with birthday cakes, plenty of singing, and lots of love shared among friends and staff. 🥳💕

💃🕺 A Ballroom of Romance at College View Nursing Home Cavan.
As part of this year’s Nursing Homes Ireland "Nursing Homes Week" with the theme “A Taste of Home”, we brought a touch of nostalgia to College View Nursing Home by recreating The Ballroom of Romance – a memory close to the hearts of many of our residents. 🎼

It was a wonderful afternoon filled with music, laughter and dance. In the video, you’ll see our lovely residents, both named Mary, enjoying a dance with Marty and Rev. Tanya, who also gave a wonderful dance demonstration. 💕 (We have more photos of the day to share with you - watch this page 🥰)

Old memories came flooding back while new ones were made together. A huge thank you to everyone who helped create such a heartwarming celebration ❤🥳
