Dot Your Eyes Editing and Proofreading

Dot Your Eyes Editing and Proofreading Dot Your Eyes provides editorial and proofreading services for writers, including academics preparing work for publication/submission.

Dot Your Eyes Proofreading and Writing Support was established in August 2013 by Gráinne Treanor, PhD. Gráinne is a former lecturer of Medical Ethics at Trinity College, Dublin and of Moral Theology at the Mater Dei Institute of Education, a college of Dublin City University. She has also taught at second level in both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. Having taken a break from paid employment during her children's pre-school years, she has now established her own freelance business as an academic editor and proofreader. She is available to proofread assignments of any length, from short papers to PhD theses. She will also proofread articles or books being prepared for publication by academics and other authors. Commercial/promotional material can also be proofread/edited at Dot Your Eyes. She has completed a rigorous distance learning course in proofreading with the Publishing Training Centre, London (2013-2014) and an intensive course in Copy-editing Skills, also with the Publishing Training Centre (October 2014). She has studied Advanced Copy-Editing with The Publishing Training Centre (2015) and On-screen editing with The Society for Editors and Proofreaders. Gráinne can also provide a tutorial service for students who feel they need support in enhancing their writing skills. This may be particularly relevant to students embarking on their first year of third level education, preparing a long paper for the first time further into their third level career or returning to education after a long break. Please note that proofreading of college assignments, such as term papers and dissertations, will be completed ethically. In other words, heavy editing will not be offered. If you would like to avail of any of these services, please contact Gráinne by e-mail at grainne@dotyoureyes.ie, grainne.treanor@hotmail.com or by telephone at

I'll leave this page up for a short while but hope those who liked the Dot Your Eyes page will take the time to like the new one. The new website – www.grainnetreanor.com – is coming soon. Happy New Year!

I love this. I was looking over some old editing notes today, where I found the copyeditor described as a 'midwife'. This fits well with what Easy Reader Editing says.

Believe it or not, real editors don’t lie in wait to pounce on the unsuspecting.
