📺 Exciting News! Ear to the Ground, Thursday 18th 7pm📺
We are thrilled to share that This Thursday's episode of "Ear to the Ground," focuses on a topic close to our hearts - Rural Mental Health, with a special emphasis on the vulnerability of farmers.
Thursday's show features Martin Gavin, a farmer and community activist from Leenane, and his family, speaking about his mental health journey.
We truly believe this show will shed light on important aspects of rural mental health and the challenges faced by our hard-working farmers.
This initiative was sparked by the booklet "How's Things," created by Sinéad Grimes and Lisa Kane. This booklet, born out of FORUM Connemara Farm Health & Safety EIP in 2022 and 2023, has been a useful tool for those experiencing mental health issues as well as helping to bring focus and start conversations around mental health. 🚜💚
The team organised the interview with Ella McSweeney and Martin in order to highlight this serious, and often ignored issue.
Stay tuned for "Ear to the Ground" at 7pm this Thursday 18th January and let's come together to support our farmers and rural communities. 🌱💙

🌍✨ Today is World Mental Health Day, a day to remind ourselves that mental health is a universal human right. Just as we all have the right to physical health, we also have the right to mental well-being.

💪 Mental health is not a luxury; it's an essential part of our overall health and quality of life. It affects us all, regardless of age, gender, race, or background. Let's break the stigma and raise awareness about the importance of mental health.

❤️ Supporting each other and being there for one another is crucial. Reach out to your friends and loved ones, ask them how they're doing, and genuinely listen. Sometimes, a simple conversation can make a world of difference.

🌈 Remember, it's okay not to be okay sometimes. Seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness. Let's create a world where everyone can access the support and resources they need to live their best, mentally healthy lives.

Well done to the organisers and all who took part in the Recess Sheep Show today. The rain mostly held off and it was, as always, a great day out.

Even though our scheme has finished, the last few training courses were taking place in August and the admin keeps going!
Today we are working to ensure that over 60 farmers will be getting their certificates in the post next week.
That's 60 farming households in Connemara that are a little bit safer, with new skills and QQI certification to make a 2nd job that little bit more viable.
Training works when it's delivered in full cooperation with the farming community.
FORUM Connemara CLG has trained over 200 local farmers over the course of their EIP Programmes. We are committed to delivering the best for our rural farming community.
