I was first introduced to T’ai Chi and Qigong in 1995 and began a lifelong love for these healing forms of meditative movement. I started training in earnest in 1998, and began teaching in 2002. Since the beginning of my T’ai Chi journey, I have always held a particular affinity with Qigong and the meditative and healing aspects of T’ai Chi and energy work. I also trained as a Herbalist and Naturopath, including the healing modalities of Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese Medicine. I like to incorporate these ancient aspects of health in my teachings, including organ and meridian health, 5 Elements as well as traditional T'ai Chi and Qigong forms. I continue to train with Charles Thackaberry, Irish T’ai Chi Chuan Association, Ann McIlraith, T’ai Chi Cork Heartwork, the Irish Health Qigong Association and Mimi Kuo Deemer. I hold much gratitude to these teachers and their teachers, who have managed to generously pass on their wise and compassionate experience in a way that activates those same qualities in others. I currently teach T'ai Chi and Qigong, with a focus on meditation and spirituality. Seminars and Retreats are held throughout Ireland. In-person and online classes are held primarily in Counties Cork and Waterford. Anne Marie

Food for thought…

Develop a peaceful warrior’s mindset…

The proper mindset can successfully take you to where you want to go… to who you want to become…

What does this mean?

To become a peaceful warrior is not to prepare for war but to cultivate a way of being that responds without aggression…

The Dao teaches that the proper mindset can take you where you want to go, to who you want to become, but it does so by asking you to travel light…

Let go of forced striving…

Sit in the quiet center and listen…

The world moves by patterns… learn them and move with them… This is wu wei… effortless action that arises when intention rests in harmony with the present moment…

A peaceful warrior trains like water…

Water yields to rock yet carves valleys… it flows around obstacles and returns to stillness…

Strength is not in hardness but in persistence and flexibility…

When you meet resistance, do not meet force with force… Bend, change course, find the path of least harm…

In stillness your mind gathers clarity… In clarity your choices are precise… In precision your actions are effective…

Cultivate Ziran, naturalness, by aligning desire with reality…

Ambition is not denied… it is re-rooted in simplicity… Seek to achieve, but let achievement arise as the fruit of right practice rather than as the sole measure of worth…

Letting go of ego does not mean apathy.., it allows love, courage, and discipline to move without clinging…

The peaceful warrior loves deeply because attachment is tempered by wisdom…

Balance yin and yang within…

Temper action with receptivity, courage with humility, resolve with tenderness…

Practice breathing, sitting, mindful activity, and honest work…

Through small, repeated gestures… kindness to others, restraint in speech, service without expectation… character is formed…

The proper mindset can take you where you want to go, because it shapes the habits that become your path…

Embrace emptiness as space for possibility…

An open heart holds adversity without breaking…

A focused mind sees cause and effect and chooses well…

When conflict arises, speak only when necessary, act only when necessary, and always from clarity rather than fear…

The peaceful warrior understands that victory is measured by the flourishing of life, not by conquest…

In time, your outer achievements will reflect your inner shape…

You become who you practice being… humble, steadfast, tender, and clear…

Walk lightly… Practice steady presence…

Let the Dao be your teacher, and the proper mindset will carry you not just to destinations, but into the becoming you seek…

Trust the way… move with intention…

Are you a peaceful warrior?

Would you like to be?

All the Best!

Sometimes the most important thing in a whole day is the rest we take between two deep breaths.

As the Earth Gathers Herself

The world softens its colors now,
fields dim to gold and gray,
branches reach inward,
and the wind carries fewer songs.

The Earth begins to turn her gaze within,
drawing light and warmth
back to her hidden roots,
to the pulse that beats beneath frost.

So too, we are called to listen,
to gather the scattered pieces of our days,
to rest in the stillness
where our true voice waits.

Not everything must always bloom.
Some things are meant to sleep,
to dream their next beginning
in the velvet dark.

Let us fold our hearts gently,
like leaves closing in twilight,
and trust that what rests now
is not lost,
only preparing to rise again
when the light returns.

Make everything in you an ear, each atom of your being, and you will hear at every moment what the Source is whispering to you, just to you and for you, without any need for my words or anyone else’s.

You are—we all are—the beloved of the Beloved, and in every moment, in every event of your life, the Beloved is whispering to you exactly what you need to hear and know. Who can ever explain this miracle? It simply is.

Listen and you will discover it every passing moment. Listen, and your whole life will become a conversation in thought and act between you and Him, directly, wordlessly, now and always. It was to enjoy this conversation that you and I were created...

EMPTINESS AS SPACE AND FREEDOM

The Chinese word for "emptiness" is xu, 虛. It's a key Daoist concept. For example, chapter 5 of the Daodejing has this line in reference to bellows: “Empty yet unbending, moving, and more goes out.”

Emptiness as a philosophical concept puzzles many people. Emptiness mentioned in relationship to old age may well invoke some of the other dictionary definitions of xu: "diffident or timid; false; modest; weak (of health); in vain." Some might look at the sum of their lives, feel that they didn't realize their dreams, and feel that their life was "emptiness." Others might look at their eventual demise as "emptiness."

But I'd like to look at emptiness differently today: as space, freedom, openness, and boundlessness. By the time we reach old age, our accomplishments, strength, and wisdom define us. Excellent though they may well be, all that defines us also restrains us.

That's why it's good to meditate daily and enter emptiness. First, to enter emptiness is to be tranquil and calm, because all conflicts and contradictions are stilled. Second, great peace is in that emptiness. And third, that boundlessness means that new aspects of ourselves can be discovered.

So let's not be afraid or even mystified by emptiness. It's good, and practicing emptiness can lead to great joy.
