Kate O’Connor Makes Irish Athletics History! 🥈
What an extraordinary achievement for Kate O’Connor, who has claimed the silver medal in the heptathlon at the World Athletics Championships. Despite sustaining a knee injury in the long jump, she went on to deliver five personal bests across seven events to secure her place on the podium.
At just 24, Kate has written her name into the history books as the first Irish woman ever to medal in a multi-discipline event at a major championships, and only the sixth Irish athlete to medal at the Worlds — the first in 12 years.
When Walls chose to support Kate three years ago, we could not have dreamed of what she has now achieved. To see her stand on the world stage, competing with such resilience, courage, and consistency, is simply beyond belief. All of us at Walls are so proud of this remarkable Dundalk woman, who has exceeded every expectation.
A special word too for her father and coach, Michael, whose guidance and support have been vital to this journey.
Walls will continue to stand proudly beside Kate as she now looks ahead to her Olympic ambitions and the road to Los Angeles 2028.
Congratulations, Kate — a performance that has made history for Irish athletics and inspired a nation. 🇮🇪✨
