The mind will take us for a ride and have us question our reality, time and time again. What I love about somatic work is that the body doesn't lie. The body is a doorway to deeper truth, and I firmly believe that every one of us has the answers we often fervently seek outside of ourselves.
The body is always prompting us, often through subtle whispers that might become more persistent when we pay no heed. Somatic work gives us the opportunity to listen to what those whispers have to say before they turn to screams. It gives us the opportunity to do this in the presence of a compassionate witness. Although, at times, cleaving to the truth might be necessary. I want to remind you that we can gently knock on the door to our soft and precious body, letting her know that it's safe to reveal the truth in her own time, with her own language ✨️

✨️Somatic Experiencing (SE) is a body-oriented form of trauma resolution therapy.
✨️SE gives us the opportunity to release stress energy from the body through presence and attention on specific sensations, emotions, images, impulses, and movements that arise during a session.
✨️While stories, memories, and ongoing experiences are important aspects of our lives, we move beyond the cognitive, thinking mind through this work to tap into the whole spectrum of our experience.
✨️A sense of wholeness, freedom, groundedness, and empowerment are common experiences that clients often report from engaging in SE.

"Love is, in fact an intensification of life, a completeness, a fullness, a wholeness of life. Life curves upward to a peak of intensity, a high point of value and meaning, at which all its latent creative possibility go into action and the person transcends himself or herself in encounter, response, and communion with another. It is for this that we came into the world - this communion and self-transcendence. We do not become fully human until we give ourselves to each other in love."
~ Thomas Merton - 'Love and Need'.
Happy 7 year anniversary of this very fun and very beautiful special day . You're the most loving person I've ever met. I'm not sure how I became so lucky ♥️

Us before parenthood. When we had time for frivolous things like sea swims followed by in person couples therapy, lol!
I didn't enjoy the therapy because she spent too long telling us about her sons marriage when it didn't feel relevant, and brought a religious aspect to the sessions that was completely unexpected. We tried the extreme opposite of this another time with a therapist who was q***r, polyamarous, and *everything* positive - he was great and resonated way more for us, but he didn't seem to grasp that a certain pull away from intimacy in the early years of parenting is somewhat normal and I didn't feel my natural hormonal changes could be truly understood or accounted for.
I am the kind of partner who often seeks out novelty and change, I like to feel that we're constantly evolving and deepening in our connection and experience of life. Whereas James is very content, rooted, and mostly accepting of how things are - which makes for a good balance. It's why we've been together 14 years and counting, I think. That coupled with a solid foundation of mutual respect, which is somehow rare to find it seems?
Would love to hear from others who've tried couples therapy or other forms of couples work. What have you discovered? How has it impacted your relationship? Would you recommend it? The funnest aspect of our relationship is that we're at a stage where we're both on the same page about taking a big leap of faith into the unknown. Combined with the groundedness of being parents, it feels like ripe time to dive into more work together.... Well, if I can convince him again 😘 hehe.

An idea I've had floating around me for YEARS!
TITRATE
a multi-media zine.
~
Short stories, essays, poems, photography, and art-work submissions welcome. Link in bio to submit your work.
"Titration means that we slow things down. Because trauma is "too much, too fast, too soon," we want to counter this in trauma renegotiation. Slowing down looks like working with only small bits of difficult experiences at a time" (Sarah Ross).
First issue coming December 2024.
You don't need to consider yourself an artist to submit your work here. You just need to create because you must! I want to read/see art from those who have found solace & relief in the act of making something. Please consider sharing what you have begun to process personally. If it feels terrifying and overwhelming and you fear for your safety, then consider waiting until you're ready to tell that story. Your identity can be anonymous if it suits your circumstances better.
Get creating or submitting for the first issue 🔥❤️
Go gently,

Im starting a weekly online Somatic Experiencing session group for women. It will be on Wednesday evenings from 7pm starting the 5th June. The session will be €35 drop-in rate for 60-90 min. No commitment to sign up for multiple sessions necessary.
I have been a practitioner of this work for 5.5 years now. I have hundreds of hours of practice under my belt. I have done specialised training in Somatic Experiencing for se.xual & se.xuality trauma with and postpartum care with . I am a forever student, and I never stop being curious and endeavouring to learn so I can be a better practitioner and human. I am not shy about sharing my own story and things that I have worked hard to overcome.
This is a low-cost and sustainable way to experience this work, and the group element can offer the benefits of learning to be comfortable to be seen by others. Single mothers are welcome to join for free.
Somatic Experiencing is a body oriented form of trauma resolution therapy. It offers us the opportunity to complete incomplete stress responses (fight, flight, freeze) so that we no longer hold the discomfort of this energy in our bodies. Giving us back our life force energy and making what has become dull once again, full of colour and vibrancy.
Link in bio to sign up for any of the Wednesday sessions. Sign up for one or multiple. Reach out to me if you're a single mother who wants to join, and I'll reserve your place. Sessions are held via Zoom.

THAI WOMBLIFTING
🔅🔆🔅🔆🔅🔆🔅🔆🔅

I have six dates set in stone this summer to offer Thai Womblifting. This is a 3 hour treatment, and it incorporates the whole body - this kind of work cannot be rushed or squeezed into a shorter time frame. In my experience, true relaxing and unravelling happens 90+ into a treatment. I'm excited to begin offering these longer sessions. As a practitioner, a lot more presence and care can be offered when we don't feel pressured by time and back to back clients. I stopped working like that after I had my daughter.
Womblifting is an ancient Thai healing art that involves the use of herbal preparations in a warm compress, the process also involves the activation of special acupressure points, and the uterus is manipulated directly with the hands on the abdomen. Issues that may be addressed through this treatment include postnatal health, digestive issues, endometriosis, painful or irregular periods, a misaligned uterus, and hormonal issues. Womblifting is a wonderful treatment for overall wellbeing and vitality.
My work is also informed by my practice of Chi Nei Tsang abdominal massage, Somatic Experiencing, Innate Postpartum Care, and a decade of hands-on practice as a massage therapist.
Dates available from Dublin Wellbeing Centre, D2:
May 24th & 25th
June 14th & 15th
July 12th & 13th
Reach out for more information or to book an appointment.

In fact, most women who've been victimised barely let that story live outside of their body,
not until it's 3am and she’s so drunk that she can barely stand, and she turns to you numbed by the spirit that's taken hold of her soul and tells you about the ‘friend’ who took a hold of her throat,
and she reveals in a moment of rage how her uncle put that money he owed her into her cleavage, but somehow she thinks she's to blame,
i don’t act shocked because im not, and i don’t want to deter her from bleeding into my lap 'cause you know how many women bury those glass shards deep into their womb,
where they’re absorbed by her daughter as her tiny body stretches and blooms?
viscera twists and tweaks to contain the ache - pulling her frame into shapes no body should make,
let it live there long enough they'll call it all sorts of names; bipolar, fibro, asthma, ibs,

i'm sick of the compromise - to make-do or die is an outdated fallacy:
Walk out of the doctors office when they don’t believe you and live.
Stop the bad s*x halfway through and live.
Tell your husband to clean his own skid marks and live.
Kiss her in public and live.
Ask the dude at the coffee shop to let you finish your book and LIVE.

Tangled and severed wires don't deliver power to the host.
Don't you remember? that persistent nausea started when you were forced to take in a man you were disgusted by,
those palpitations began at the shock of that barbaric examination
now that we get it, let us heal and do better,
there's nothing to be gained from concealing the truth.

It's the end of 2025, and there have been no reports of femicide, s*xual assault, or violence toward children or women,
All men are going to therapy,
the pubs are struggling to pay their rent,
prisons are downsizing in every county,
families stop keeping secrets,
women give mass, and they’re funny as hell,
churches are full because our god does not discriminate, hate, or merely tolerate,
they love us all no matter what, yes, even with tattoos, mini skirts, and pride flags… especially the pride flags.

We’re done with conventions that keep us stifled in shame,
for the sake of each other, let's sing our songs untamed.

I just want to encourage anyone who feels uncomfortable, nervous, unheard, pushed into situations that you feel vulnerable in to stop the session and WALK OUT of there. This action is in and of itself an empowering and healing experience. Sometimes the courage isn’t always available to us if we go into a freeze response. But please know you can always share it with someone and do the work to unwind that s**t after the fact, it’s never too late. It may be true that we are in a time where the expectation of safety in all spaces is overstated, and I know this may not always be realistic or fun? But there is no beneficial work happening if you are working with bodies and making those bodies feel tense and unsafe. Full stop! I would love to receive recommendations for amazing male practitioners of all kinds who have a background in trauma informed care. I think this would be a great resource to share here!

I don't usually engage in discussions of what the moon is and isn't doing! I find astronomy/astrology interesting and fascinating, but I don't think too much about how it may or may not be affecting my behaviour/mood/relationships, etc..
For this latest eclipse, though, I have been more interested than usual. I came across a video of an astrology guy talking about how the energy of this eclipse was all about bringing old wounds to the surface to magnify where we aren't free. This resonated with me because that has been a big theme for me these past few weeks. The main experience that I'm sitting with is standing up for myself against 'authoritative' figures. For my whole adult life, I've grappled with my lack of trust and fawning pattern towards male authoritative figures - bosses, medical practitioners, sometimes partners. A few years ago I decided to actively begin working through this. I have a wonderful and respectful partner of 14 years who has never given me a reason to not trust him or feel unsafe, which has been instrumental in being able to untangle some of the distortions I've experienced towards men. As a big believer in bodywork, I seek out great practitioners often. In the last two years I've had two male bodywork practitioners that have had good reviews AND I've walked out of both of their sessions before my time was over due to seriously unprofessional and unsafe practices, especially with the latest one this weekend. If you are a man and you're working with women as your main clientele for something as intimate and vulnerable as massage, bodywork, medical or any kind of 1:1 care you really need to learn trauma informed care. I mean, all practitioners/professionals of all kinds should, but especially if you’re a man working mainly with women. Learning nervous system work has really allowed me to see where I’m dysregulated and projecting lack of safety onto someone who is not unsafe and where the person is actually completely and utterly unsafe in their practices. I could list all of the behaviours that I experienced to warrant this post, but I’m not going to do that.
