Listening to your self-talk and identifying harsh, repetitive thoughts that are showing up will make it easier for you to know when your Inner Critic is talking. When we can notice and acknowledge the Inner Critic is showing up, we separate from it. So listening to our self-talk will also help us distinguish our Wise Mind from our Inner Critic! Tapping into our Wise Mind is essential for wellbeing and vitality!

'How do I know if it's my inner critic talking or if I'm just being realistic?'

What an excellent question! How do we if it's our inner critic telling us we are not good enough, destined to fail or not ready? How can we be sure it's not the voice of reason?

The Inner Critic is typically is: Repetitive, makes us feel like its voice is to be commanded, obeyed and followed, is self-deprecating...

Realistic thinking is: Flexible and forward moving, focuses on solutions, is embodied 'We get a gut feeling etc.' and comes from a place of self-support!

Gently acknowledging the Inner Critic as it shows up can help you to unhook from it. When we battle with our Inner Critic, its voice grows louder. By saying, 'Here's the Inner Critic telling me I am not good enough'. It creates a bit of distance between us and the thought, which stops the voice from dominating us.
