First off – what is the Zef? The Zef is a programmable smart sensor for people with asthma/COPD who medicate with a pressurised Metered Dose Inhalers (pMDI).

“I reasoned that the humble pMDI inhaler has been in the market since the 1960s, and it could do with a technology upgrade to solve everyday problems. Moreover, why not some “cool” design? Why should people with asthma have to interface with dull medical-looking technology? Simply said, they deserve better.”

Knowing when last puff was taken. Have you ever felt your pMDI mouthpiece for moisture?
Knowing how many puffs were taken today (and when)
Knowing the approximate number of puffs remaining in the canister. Not all canisters have counters
Knowing the number of days to medication expiration
Having reminders to take medication
Consistency with the inhalation cycle breathing and pauses between multiple doses

🤔💭 What do you miss out on because of asthma?

📋 Some of the most common everyday activities that asthma can interfere are athletic activities, quality sleep and diet.

⚽️🚵‍♀️🏋️‍♂️ Activities that involve long periods of exertion, such as soccer, distance running, basketball, and field hockey, may not be as easy. Also, cold-weather sports, such as ice hockey, cross-country skiing, and ice skating, may pose challenges. But many people with asthma are able to fully take part in these activities.

🥱😴 It’s common for asthma symptoms to come on at night, but that doesn't mean they should be put up with them. Night-time asthma symptoms are a sign that asthma isn’t well controlled, and that can make a risk of an asthma attack more probable.

🥛☕️🍪 Nutrition -- good or bad -- isn’t the only way that asthma might be affected by diet, such as:
· Diets High in Calories.
· Food Allergies .
· Preservative Sensitivities.
· GERD
These are just some of everyday activities that asthma can interfere with. Living in asthma requires getting used to. Finding what works for each person and knowing to recognize the symptoms in time.

Medication to treat asthma

There are two main types of treatment, each geared toward a specific goal.
There are Controller medications that are the most important because they prevent asthma attacks. The other type is Quick-relief medications, also called rescue medications that help relax the muscles around your airway.

Some of these drugs should be taken daily to get your asthma under control and keep it that way. Others are taken on an as needed basis to reduce the severity of an asthma attack.

Keep these general guidelines in mind
- Never run out of asthma medication.
- Wash your hands before you take asthma drugs.
- Take your time. Double-check the name and dosage of all medications before you use them.
- Store asthma drugs according to their instructions.
- Check liquid medications often. If they have changed color or formed crystals, throw them away and get new ones.
- Tell your doctor about any other medications you take.

Zef can help you take your medication properly and on time. Zef will tell you when your medication is about to expire, or is about to run out. With Zef you will know you are taking your medication in most effective way.

Golf is good for asthma

We hear all the time from multiple sources to get more exercise. If you suffer from asthma, you may fear that working out would make your symptoms worse. Exercising in a way that works for you is great way to distress, which, in turn, can help keep your asthma symptoms from flaring up.

Activities such as cross-country skiing, basketball, and soccer are a bit too strenuous for asthmatics. Cross-country skiing can dry out the airways with the cold air being a contributing factor. Basketball requires too much running up and down the court while not providing enough rest time between plays. Soccer players are in constant motion chasing the ball unless they are a goaltender.
This is where golf comes as one of the best solutions.

Golfing as the staggered activity of alternating swings with walking is great for keeping symptoms at bay, but be sure to check the pollen levels before heading out to the course.
Fresh air, light walking and easy exercise is what makes golf a perfect exercise for asthma.

❓ What is a spacer and why you should use it?
⬇️
⬇️
👄 A spacer is a plastic cylinder that is used in combination with an asthma inhaler. Rather than puffing the medication directly into your mouth, you puff it into the tube and inhale from there.

✅ The spacer helps deliver the medicine directly into the lungs, instead of the mouth and throat, and can increase the effectiveness of the medication by up to 70 percent.

💡 Taking the medication with a spacer ensures you get more of the medicine you inhale into the lungs where it is needed.

👇👇👇
🛑 If you use an inhaler without a spacer, less medication may actually get into the lungs. 🛑
