We are a group of RCSI students who are interested in all things general practice (GP). In the meantime, we are building a following and connecting!

We are applying to become an officially recognised and funded student society at RCSI for September 2021.

Having a broad selection of committee members from all of the years has always been a priority of ours, it not only allows the society to grow and develop but ensures nobody feels overworked or stressed out. 🫠

We are super excited to work alongside our new committee members and have such an exciting year ahead ! ❤️

Hello everyone we have an exciting announcement !!

The Department of General Practice invite RCSI students to take part in the 2026 RCGP Undergraduate Clinical Cases Competition.

Teams of two students are invited to submit a clinical case relevant to general practice by 5:00pm on Friday, 16 January 2026. Shortlisted teams will be invited to present their case to the Department of General Practice at 6:00pm on Monday, 26 January 2026 (venue TBC).

Presentation Format: A 10-minute clinical presentation, including time for questions.

Please submit your case in PowerPoint format, using the following headings (a literature review may be included under Implications for clinical practice):

1. Title Slide
2. Case Summary
3. Background to the Condition
4. Implications for Clinical Practice
5. Conclusion

Cases should reflect care in general practice and may be chosen from hospital or GP settings. You are welcome to submit cases previously presented during your GP rotation.

Submission: Please submit you case in PowerPoint slide format to gp@rcsi.ie

The winners of the internal competition will receive a medal at the Biological Society Inaugural Address on the 29th January 2026 and will go on to represent RCSI at the RCGP Semi-Finals (online, February 2026). The overall winners will then present at the RCGP ROI Faculty Spring Meeting at RCSI on 25 April 2026.

On Friday three of our committee members (Claire (Chair),Laura(Vice chair) and James (PR and communications)) got to present at the GP tutor workshop in Dublin. 👩‍🏫👨‍🏫

Our presentation focused on the theme of belonging and shining a spotlight on the students perspective on GP placements. 🩺🥼
Our aim was to try and effectively ease the transition for students into their GP placements by working collaboratively with the GP tutors themselves.

A very enjoyable experience and some amazing points came up throughout both workshops.
