🏃 The Blackrock Health Galway Clinic Streets of Galway 8K returns on 9th of August, with 3,500 participants set to take on the scenic route through the city.

The race kicks off 7pm at Fr Griffin Road in the city centre and finishes at South Park, where well-earned refreshments await all finishers.

HQ is located at the Claddagh Hall at Nimmos Pier.

Organised by Galway City Harriers Athletics Club, in partnership with Blackrock Health Galway Clinic, this iconic event is a celebration of community, health and fitness.

• Apply SPF 50 — and reapply every 3–4 hours
• Skip the sunbeds — there's no such thing as a safe tan

2. Understanding Skin Cancer – Early Detection is Key

"The earlier we detect skin cancer, the better the outcome — and in some cases, we can avoid major surgery altogether," explains Prof. Caulfield.

The most common types of skin cancer in Ireland:

• Basal Cell Carcinomas (BCCs) – most common, least dangerous
• Squamous Cell Carcinomas (SCCs) – risk of spreading
• Melanomas – rare but serious, require urgent removal

➡️ Look for changing moles, irregular borders, colour shifts, bleeding, or new growths.

A timely GP referral to a plastic surgeon or dermatologist can lead to fast treatment and peace of mind.
