Ever notice how your thoughts get louder the moment your head hits the pillow? 😴

Sleep isn’t just “switching off” — your brain is still busy organising memories, regulating emotions, and resetting for tomorrow.

When sleep becomes difficult, it can impact focus, mood, and stress levels.

Understanding the brain is the first step toward better rest.

Our hearts go out to the children and families affected by the North Kerry CAMHS review.

This RTE report highlights deeply concerning failures in child and adolescent mental health care, with hundreds of families now facing the painful reality that their children may have received inappropriate or unsafe treatment.

No child should be harmed by the very systems meant to protect them. Parents deserve transparency, accountability, and properly resourced services that prioritise children’s wellbeing above all else.

For families affected: you are not alone, and your voices matter.

Understanding autism starts with understanding the person — not just a checklist.

A professional ASD assessment looks at the whole picture: thinking patterns, emotions, sensory experiences, strengths, challenges, and life history. This helps ensure autism isn’t missed, misunderstood, or confused with something else — and that support truly fits.

For children, early clarity can reduce stress and support healthy development.
For adults, it can bring long-awaited answers, self-understanding, and relief.

At Omnia Mental Health Clinic, we believe assessments should be thoughtful, evidence-based, and compassionate — because every individual deserves to feel understood.

Because habits aren’t just choices — they’re brain-based patterns.

When we repeat a behaviour, the brain’s habit system steps in, linking cues, routines, and rewards to help us act efficiently without thinking. Over time, dopamine reinforces the loop, even when the habit no longer serves us.

The good news?
The brain is adaptable. With new, consistent experiences, we can create fresh neural pathways and gently replace old routines.

Change isn’t about willpower — it’s about working with your brain, not against it.

Waking up at the same time every night can feel frustrating — especially when you’re exhausted.

For many people, this pattern is linked to how the brain regulates sleep and alertness. Instead of staying in deep, restorative states, the brain may be reactivating too early.

Sleep difficulties aren’t always behavioural — they’re often neurological.
qEEG helps us understand what the brain is doing beneath the surface, so sleep support can be personalised.

🧠 What to expect from an ADHD assessment at Omnia Mental Health Clinic

If you’re considering an ADHD assessment, it’s normal to have questions. At Omnia, our process is designed to be thorough, collaborative, and tailored to you — not rushed or one-size-fits-all.

Here’s how it works:

✨ 1. Initial Consultation
You’ll meet with our Senior Clinical Psychologist to talk through your concerns, personal history, and what led you to seek an assessment. This helps us understand you — not just symptoms.

📝 2. History & Questionnaires
You’ll complete detailed questionnaires covering daily functioning, attention, routines, work/school experiences, medical history, and background. For children, input from parents and schools is included.

🧪 3. Assessment Tools
We use evidence-based tools such as symptom questionnaires, objective attention testing (TOVA), and cognitive assessments (where appropriate) to build a clear, well-rounded picture.

📊 4. Report, Recommendations & Feedback
Our team prepares a comprehensive report outlining findings and personalised recommendations. You’ll then meet again with our psychologist to review results, ask questions, and plan next steps together.

💛 Our goal is clarity, understanding, and support — so you can move forward with confidence.

If you’d like to learn more or have questions about ADHD assessments, feel free to get in touch.

Burnout rarely comes out of nowhere.

For many neurodivergent adults, burnout is the result of years of masking — constantly monitoring behaviour, managing emotions, and pushing through despite internal strain. While this may look like coping on the outside, the brain is often operating in a prolonged state of stress and alertness.

Burnout isn’t weakness. It’s the brain reaching its limits.

qEEG allows us to see patterns of overactivation and reduced recovery — helping us understand what’s been happening beneath the surface and how to support the brain moving forward.

💙 You’re not broken. Your brain has been working hard.

Autism is often missed in adults — not because it isn’t there, but because many people learn to adapt, mask, and cope quietly.
When struggles are internal, subtle, or hidden behind achievement, they’re easy to overlook. But the brain has been working hard all along.
Understanding autism later in life can be profoundly validating — replacing confusion and self-criticism with clarity and compassion. 💙
At Omnia Mental Health, we support adults using neuroscience-based, respectful approaches that focus on understanding the brain — not fixing the person.
