Ben’s Tip of the day.

Is a larger % of your time spent seated? Work at a Desk? A Driver? You may experience tight hips from all the sitting. The Hip flexors are in a shortened position while seated.

By first stretching them before you train them, you increase the ROM and therefore training them in a lengthened range, we can greatly improve our hip mobility.

We can then pair this complex with some glute work to further improve this position. This is an example of what you will see in one of my structural balance programs. If you are having problems with your hips or lower back please don’t hesitate to reach out to me.

Thanks to my mentor Luke Leaman for teaching me this.

ISI Results.

So as you all know this isn’t our typical post. But I’ve thought about this post a bit. About how we did this. Actually How He did this more than anything.

This is Adam’s client. Only does 1 Hour with him every 2 weeks. Then during lockdown we just did remote online check in’s to keep on track.

Colm Started with me January 2020 with the goal of losing 25kg.

Pic on the left is Jan 26th two weeks after he started with myself. Pic on the right is today. 08.00 23rd Dec.

Colm has lost a total of a little over 30KG through better lifestyle habits and a small bit of training.

Personally we have only done 2 x 20 min workouts all year and he has done some 10min HIIT workouts at home and his regular walks.

With the year we have had for Colm not to get disheartened and stop because let’s be fair if there was a year for excuses this was the year. But not for Colm.

Was Colm’s life boring doing this? NO. He still had his beers after golf or on a Saturday like most people want. The difference was he set the stage all week to be able to have that bit of flexibility at the weekends.

Anyhow Congrats on the consistent hard work Colm. You’ve done so well and looking forward to helping you keep it off and helping others achieve similar results to these.

You don’t have to be any weight, there is no right weight. But there is a optimal level of health we should all be seeking and 30kg lighter certainly brings you towards that healthier target.

“The absence of disease doesn’t mean the presence of health”.

So make next year your year of health.

Until then Happy Christmas All.

Here is to 2021 and New Healthier You.

PT HUB: We are delighted to announce a new initiative we are launching this coming October. We are rebranding our city centre location into our new concept PT HUB. Over the last few months we have noticed the difficulties within our sector, all the new requirements and limitations for trainers to run a successful business is proving quite challenging. Some commercial gyms have closed their doors to PTs and some PTs have problems with physical distancing in their current workplace. That’s why we are delighted to offer space for 3-4 trainers to run their business from our Leeson street facility.
Short term or long term places are available.
📍Physical Distancing ✅
📍Own Boss ✅
📍No hidden fees ✅
📍Consultation room ✅
📍CoVid compliant ✅
📍Queue for Equipment ❌

Here at the Irish Strength Institute we want to prioritise the health and safety of our members and coaches, so going forward we would like to put some systems in place that will allow us to keep our doors open and fully functional as we get more information about any updates of the Coronavirus. We aren't buying into the panic and misinformation although we want to be responsible and take some precautions as the health of our members and staff is of upmost importance. Like many businesses in Ireland, we are closely monitoring the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak and the information provided by Health Service Executive (HSE). We want to update you on the actions we are taking to respond to COVID-19 and to reassure you that we are prepared.

We have increased the level of cleaning and hygiene at our gyms. Increased frequency of cleaning to sanitise all equipment .

As a member can you please do the following:

1. Frequent hand washing before and after visits.
2. Covering your mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing or sneezing. *Please do not sneeze into your hand and proceed to lift weights.*
3. Please ensure you bring your own gym towels and wipe down equipment after use. This is for your own hygiene and the hygiene of others.
4. Please bring your own water bottles as water and coffee facilities are currently out of service.
5. Please stay at home if you are suffering from any of the symptons of Covid-19
