~Care for Care~
Next Date JUNE 16th✨
This workshop is coming up again in June.
This is about nurturing your capacity to care for yourself and others.
We are ineffective if we don’t take care of ourselves, yet it can often feel so hard to access this ‘self care’ when it’s clouded in self judgement, guilt, default reactivity to be ‘always on’ or doing.
When the world externally feels like you have to rush to keep up, you need to regulate internally and find a felt sense of pace that can sustain responsiveness.
Using Yoga, somatics, and stillness practices, reflection and rest, this will be a 2 hour workshop your body, heart and spirit will thank you for❤️
The best time is always NOW.

Chatting to a client this week about how we need time to allow our processes.
We are in such a rush these days to have answers, the best advice. We have access to so much information now AND yet our bodies systems work at a different pace.
Of course we need to make decisions and adulting is about action steps, but we also need to time to soothe broken hearts or feel sad. We need time to heal after sickness or simply feel how it is to not be under time pressure.
We need to feel how we can pace ourselves in times of urgency.
I mentioned to a friend recently that I can notice sometimes how I rush my daughter to get her coat on or leave the house and I realized that it doesn’t land well for any of us….so I’m practicing letting her take her sweet time and if all we do is sit on our ‘walks’ that’s ok❤️

Back in October I posted a video about social media and your Nervous System. In the 6 months since, I’m sure in different ways we have all experienced our own collective and individual reactions and responses.
It can be so difficult to hold space internally and externally for the variety of simultaneous feelings, thoughts and energetics you can be going through, and add to that trying to care for others, tend to others, be there for others.
I firmly believe that our practices on our mats can be powerful mechanisms on AND off our mats.
When we are immersed in experiences through our bodies, with others in mindful dialogue, through intentional stillness and shared space, we cultivate our capacity for processing and integrating.
We can’t feel cold water by just thinking about it. We have to get in. When we do it’s a whole lived experience.
We can’t care for ourselves or others by just thinking about it, we have to practice, engage with ourselves and others in ways that feel caring.
My upcoming workshop is focused on how to care for our own nervous system states and others through what we can practice on our mats and time together.
There will be time for talking, time for moving, time for listening and time tor reflect & be still.
We need to tend to and care for our capacity and ability to care.

Tomorrow I am giving a talk on the nervous system & Matrescence with ❤️

As I dive into my memories and my material for this talk, I feel so proud for how much I’ve learnt and processed in these early years. I am not sure we declare that enough and acknowledge what a major learning curve it is in the very early days when it all seems like a distant memory.

So all my Mamas pat yourselves on the back AND What is one thing you would have loved to know about your nervous system as you became a Mother? What are you proud of yourself for today? ❤️

Yesterday was World Mental Health day and probably for the last 6 or so years I’ve posted my reflections or shared some insights.
Yesterday I missed the date, I only realized in the evening and had a moment of ‘I don’t even have time to think about mental health let alone share’!
I feel this can be an indicator of most of our modern lives and ‘usual’ days. Tasks, duties, everyday concerns can supersede what feels like more time consuming processing or pausing to digest…
So…what do we do?
We can realize that’s entirely normal and our efficient brain/mind is working to save us over efforting.
With that we can go easy on ourselves and have compassion for our human-ness.
And then we can step out of perhaps the lean to doing mode or tending to others (be that emails or making dinner) and give ourselves a break, maybe that’s just a deep breath.
And this pausing might just free up a little more space inside to open up to what’s going on for you…
here are some simple self reflection questions ‘how am I doing?’ ‘How am I feeling?’ ‘What do I need right now?’
If your body was sending you signals that you are hungry you’d know all about it, and maybe over time our practices can be listening to and tending to all of the other signals and feelings that might be arising.
Sending you warmth and kindness,
Naomi❤️

~Harvesting~
Noticing what we can pleasure in, take joy in, celebrate and luxuriate in.
Maybe not what we were expecting, or maybe experiences have changed.
Sometimes enforced changes or failure to meet expectations brings up disappointment or even shame.
But we can tune in and sense where we are at now and with grounding, notice the gifts we can reap.
This is what our wonderful annual immersion towards the end of August will centre around.
Moving into intentional pleasure, without guilt or shame, fear or worry.
Let’s soak in what is available to us❤️

~Celebrate~
Sometimes it can feel really hard to pat yourself on the back, to do an inner happy dance, to say well done or celebrate a project, a day, a moment.
For me and you may resonate, there can be an inner ‘judgey’ voice of ‘that’s not really worth celebrating’ or ‘that’s not as good as…..’
BUT who decides our measuring stick of what’s worth celebrating? We may be influenced by generations before us, we may be conditioned by current cultural standards but we can still bring self awareness to our judgements, our thoughts and treatment of ourselves. We can say internally, yes this is worth celebrating, because this is what I VALUE as important. We can also listen to each other and mirror that.
So it might be going for a run when you didn’t feel like it, or sitting down to have tea rather than ‘do more’, it might be having a difficult conversation, it might be making a choice that FEELS better❤️
What’s your ‘celebrate’ these days?
And…if you want to mark this season and these times of harvest and reaping, my annual immersion will be on from Aug 22nd-25th.✨
Each evening an opportunity to move, connect, reflect and rest.💫

It’s and the theme is Education and Support.
When I was pregnant and just after giving birth to Ayla, I was asked on a number of occasions by medical professionals and then later on in my pregnancy by lots of others ‘How long are you going to breastfeed for?’
This question is tricky, imagine if you were to start a new job or a relationship or you take up a new physical activity like running, how would the question ‘ how long do you plan to do this for?’ land for you?
Like many things pre and post natal related and further on in mothering journeys, it needs to be more common place to assist, help, support and educate and ask ‘how are you getting on?’ ‘Do you need any help with anything?’ rather than ask questions we can’t answer/feel pressured to answer or feel like there is some right or wrong answer.
I had no idea how long I was going to breastfeed, all I knew was I wanted to do my best for Ayla and I❤️
Let’s change our everyday conversations and influence the culture and systems around us for more inclusivity rather than some impression that there is a pass/fail or deadline we need to get to.
The World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA) in are encouraging promotion, development and strengthening of the ‘Warm Chain of Support’ for Mothers. This includes governments, health systems, workplaces and communities to provide and sustain breastfeeding-friendly environments for families in the post pandemic world.

Pre & Post Natal Yoga💙
This August…
Yoga can be incredibly beneficial, supportive and crucial for your pregnancy, post partum journey and beyond.
From preparing for birth and respecting the monumental physical endurance feat pregnancy is in itself, to healing, rebuilding, and regaining strength post birth.
Learning nervous system regulation practices and having holistic embodied experience of listening to and honoring what your body needs.
Practices to support the emotional, mental and spiritual shifts you are experiencing, the hormonal changes and acknowledging you as an individual in this experience, your unique journey and what is best for you.
I could write lots but let’s practice instead…
I have a little taster course coming up this August and would love to see you there…

~Everyday Spiritual~
Rituals for your spirit do not just have to be for the extremely committed or for those who have dedicated their lives to paths of solitude or retreat.
I think a worry to become a Mama can be that you will lose adventure or soul connecting practices. The concern that you will be relegated to a life of domesticity, everyday chores or the dedication of time to your children.
It may seem less blissful than a Yoga retreat for sure, or on a deeper level, like it’s not the same time dedicated to personal practices or growth.
I certainly miss elements of those times for sure but I’ve noticed my practices deepen further in the past couple of years. The support and wholesomeness from rituals help sustain the increasing demands of being present for another, of caring, of tending to their needs.
Spirituality is not a concept but a reality-necessary and potent more than ever.
Carving a path of transitioning with love from one sense of identity you have of yourself to another is the greatest spiritual task you’ll ever undertake. Letting go what no longer serves you, embracing the unknown, grieving, finding peace and acceptance and then glimmers of bliss where you feel fierce, full of power and can take on the world.❤️
