Speaker Spotlight: Kathy McLoughlin.

Kathy is a psychologist and Director of Disability Services with Dovida, Ireland's largest provider of home support. During her career she has worked directly supporting adults with dementia in long term care, including individuals with early onset dementia. She has also done academic research focused on dementia palliative care and fitness to drive with UCC. Kathy is passionate about person centered practice and will share practical tools and strategies to support connection and understanding.

This interactive session explores how One Page Profiles can strengthen connection, understanding, and person-centered dementia support. Grounded in real practice experience, the presentation will show how simple questions — what people like and admire, what matters most, and how best to support someone - can transform everyday care. Participants will reflect personally on what it means to be known and valued and will begin creating their own One Page Profile during the session. The presentation offers a practical tool for people with dementia, their families, carers and professionals seeking to move beyond diagnosis and task-based care, towards support that protects identity, dignity, choice and meaningful connection.
