Ian Ó Dálaigh - Éirígí Galway Representative Galway representative for Éirígí For a New Republic www.eirigi.org

Éirígí For A New Republic is building support for the creation of a new all-Ireland Republic that will put the needs of the many ahead of the greed of the few; a New Republic that will protect and manage our natural environment for the benefit of future generations; a New Republic that will be secular, egalitarian and internationalist; a New Republic that will support our native language and culture; a New Republic that will provide secure, properly paid employment for everyone that can work and support for those that can’t; a New Republic that will provide all of our citizens with the housing, healthcare, education and other essential services that they need to reach their full potential. The establishment political parties exist to maintain the illusion of democracy whilst simultaneously colluding with each other to protect and advance the interests of multinationals, banks, landlords, foreign governments and other powerful anti-democratic forces. The private bank bailout, NAMA, the imposition of austerity and the privatisation of natural resources and public services are just the latest examples of the system working exactly as it was designed to do.

Éirígí offers a real alternative to these establishment parties and the failures of the past. We have no loyalty to a state or socio-economic system that perpetuates poverty, inequality, injustice and division in our society. Our only loyalty is to the people of Ireland and the New Republic that we aim to help build. The road to the New Republic requires the patient building of a peaceful mass movement incorporating political parties, campaign groups, trade unions, cultural organisation and other progressive forces. It is this movement that will become the engine for change that will transform our society to one based upon cooperation, not competition.

During our recent 'Day of Action For Housing Justice', Éirígí members and supporters gathered at the entrance to the proposed Augustine Hill development.

This development is set to include around 200 Build-to-Rent apartments. BTR developments MUST be owned by a vulture landlord.

The vulture takeover of Irish housing has had a detrimental effect on an already broken housing system.

More BTR developments will only serve to pour fuel on the fire that is the housing crisis!

Éirígí is calling for an outright ban on the corporate ownership of Irish housing.

And we're calling for the creation of a new system of Universal Public Housing - the ONLY long-term solution to the housing crisis!

If you're ready to play your part in the fight for housing justice and , get in touch with us today!

Delighted to accept this cert on behalf of the campaign.

It is further testament to the trojan work put in by all those who campaign for the public commemoration of Julia Morrissey.

It is a small gesture in the grand scheme of things, given that the city council chose to ignore Julia's legacy!

Ultimately the recognition that the Julia Morrissey Bridge Campaign is about, is the public commemoration of Julia Morrissey!

We will not stop campaigning until that happens - if you want to help with this work, get in touch with us today!

Easter is a time when Irish Republicans pay tribute to our Patriot Dead.

All across Ireland, and further afield, people gather to honour those who fought and died in the name of an Irish Republic.

Equally deserving of remembrance are those who played their part, but did not die in action.

Pictured is my great-grandfather's Tan War medal. He and his brother were enlisted in the local Volunteer Battalion during the Easter Rising, and in the IRA during the Tan War.

Today, I'm thinking of them, and the generations of ordinary Irish men and women who took part in the fight for Irish freedom.

Let us continue to work towards building a New Republic - doing so is the greatest tribute we could pay to previous generations of Irish Republicans!

Here's my speech from last Saturday's wreath laying ceremony in honour of Julia Morrissey.

The anniversary of Julia's death is unfortunately not something that has been marked annually until recent years.

But, this is the fourth consecutive year we have gathered at her graveside for a wreath laying ceremony.

Over the course of those four years, her name, story, and contribution to the fight for Irish freedom have become much more widely known.

There is still work to be done, to ensure her contribution is publicly and permanently commemorated, but we are very proud to have played our part in bringing some recognition to Julia Morrissey!

RE/MAX is one of the largest real estate corporations in the world, whose operations include marketing and selling property in illegal Israeli settlements built on stolen Palestinian land.

Remembering Martin Hurson on the 43rd anniversary of his death on hunger strike in the H Blocks.

The sixth hunger striker to die, Hurson was 24 years-of-age when he passed away after 46 days without food.

Hurson ran in the Twenty-Six County general election while on hunger strike, in the Longford/Westmeath constituency. Receiving almost 4,500 first preference votes, he was only eliminated at the end of the sixth count.

He spent most of his adult life struggling against British imperialism, and for the creation of an all-Ireland Republic built on the ideals of liberty, equality, sovereignty, justice and democracy.

Today we remember his contribution to, and sacrifice for, the Republic!

This photo was taken at an Éirígí-organised vigil in Eyre Square, to mark the 40th anniversary of Hurson's death.

🚨 Emergency Protest 🚨

Éirígí have called an emergency protest in response to media reports earlier this week that the Dublin government plan to join an EU military initiative focussed on surveillance and reconnaissance operations at sea.

The political establishment are intent on KILLING NEUTRALITY through the death of a thousand cuts - this is just the latest one!

Those who value and support Irish neutrality need to defend it! Join the protest!

Assemble outside Leinster House at 5:30pm TOMORROW, all welcome.

We were back out on Shop Street over the weekend with our petition!

Our petition is calling on the LDA and Galway City Council to use Galway's public land to deliver Universal Public Housing.

Too often, private, "affordable" housing is built on OUR public land.

We say STOP the giveaway! Build PUBLIC housing!

UP Housing is the ONLY solution to the housing crisis! It would be genuinely affordable, as rent would be linked to household income.

It would also provide long-term security of tenure and would be open to all who want it.

"The Republic... declares its resolve to pursue the happiness and prosperity of the whole nation and of all its parts, cherishing all the children of the nation equally".

A young supporter attended our Protest For Julia this evening.

On this day in 1916, the Easter Rising began. In Galway, Julia Morrissey and Liam Mellows led the Rising.

The above quote is from the Proclamation of the Irish Republic, which was read aloud that morning on the steps of the GPO by Pádraig Pearse.

We stand on the shoulders of giants. We won't stop campaigning until one of them, Julia Morrissey, is finally honoured here in Galway!
