Kenmare Mindfulness & Yoga

Kenmare Mindfulness & Yoga Yoga with Darina Yoga and Mindfulness with Darina O’ Shea. Darina O’ Shea has spent over 15 years practising yoga and meditation. What is Yoga?

She offers weekly yoga and mindfulness classes and 8-week MBSR (Minfulness Based Stress Reduction) courses. Darina is a certified MBSR teacher with the Institute of Mindfulness-Based Approaches. She has completed courses run by the Mindfulness In Schools Project (MISP) in Dublin and London. She now introduces mindfulness into schools. Yoga is a physical science which gives us increased flexibility and strength, curing, relieving or preventing injuries, aches and pains and stiffness. Research shows that ageing is directly related to the stiffness of the spine. The more flexible the spine is the slower the ageing process. You don’t have to be flexible to do Yoga. A regular practice improves posture, breathing and detoxifies the body. Yoga is also a mental science, fitness training for the mind .It is a Mindfulness practice. What is Mindfulness? Mindfulness is learning to direct our attention to our experience as it unfolds, with kindness and acceptance. Rather than worrying about what has happened or might happen, it trains us to explore and respond skilfully, rather than react, to whatever is happening right now, whether we like it or not. Neuroscience has made compelling discoveries about the brain’s capacity to grow and change, throughout life. Research at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard University has shown, using MRI brain scanning technology that eight weeks of MBSR training leads to the thickening of a number of different regions of the brain associated with learning, memory, and emotion regulation. They also found that areas associated with stress and anxiety were thinner after the eight week course. Darina offers 8-week courses to adults, where the focus is on experiential learning in a small group setting. (12 max) Participants have shared how the course has positively impacted their lives. Testimonials can be seen on my website. Yoga and Mindfulness lead to a greater understanding of the body and mind empowering us to connect to peace of mind and inner freedom.

The hare knows… 🐇
When to move…
when to pause…
when to trust the moment.

In ancient wisdom, the hare is a symbol of intuition, sensitivity and attunement —
deeply aware of its surroundings,
guided not by rush… but by instinct.

Not driven by urgency…
but moving when the time is right.

Spring Equinox reminds us of this balance —
light returning, energy rising…
slowly… naturally… in its own time.

If you feel the need to clear, reset, gently detox and lighten… or simply come back into yourself…

✨ Join me this Sunday for a Spring Equinox session
to unblock, release and create space for what’s ready to grow 🌱

✨ Light and dark moving into balance.

As we approach the Spring Equinox, nature begins to awaken after winter.

During this Sunday morning session at Kenmare Mindfulness & Yoga, we will explore balance in body, breath and mind — inspired by the Equinox and the steady inner warmth of Tapas, the yogic inner fire that supports growth and renewal.

In seasonal wisdom, spring is linked with the liver and gallbladder, helping the body release winter stagnation and move into greater flow and clarity.

The Sunday session will be a fantastic spring clean for body, mind and heart — releasing heaviness and creating space for fresh energy.

Through the many tools of the 5,000-year-old science of yoga, we will connect with our inner warmth, vitality and natural capacity for renewal.

As it is also Mother’s Day today, it feels like the perfect moment to acknowledge the nurturing energy that helps life grow and flourish.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers and nurturing hearts ❤️✨

Join us this Sunday

Spring is in the air 🌱
A spring clean for the body and mind 🌞

As nature begins to awaken, the body is ready to move, release and renew.
Yoga at this time of year gently supports the body’s natural detox and cleansing systems, helping to improve circulation, energy flow and vitality after the winter months.

Yoga is not just about flexibility.
Like the trees in spring, the aim is to be both strong and flexible —
physically, mentally and emotionally.

A space to let go of what feels heavy
and make room for fresh energy and growth.
✨ Move
✨ Breathe
✨ Renew

Happy new year ,heres to lots of laughs ,good health and beautiful moments in the year ahead 🥰✨️🎉

29/12/2025

✨ Thank you for sharing this quiet end-of-year ritual with me. 🥰

The space in-between Christmas and New Year

Already, the light is quietly returning.
Not bright yet — just a soft knowing that the darkness has turned.

This time between Christmas and New Year is known as a liminal space —
the in-between.
A threshold.
A pause between what has been and what is still forming.
In liminal space, the old has loosened,
but the new has not yet arrived.

There is nothing to decide.
Nothing to fix.
Nothing to push forward.
Here, we turn inward.
Into silence.
Into stillness.

Into a healing, nourishing space
where the body softens,
the nervous system settles,
and the heart exhales.

We move gently into the darkness —
to listen.
To rest in it.
To allow it to hold us.

In this quiet space,
the body remembers how to heal,
the mind loosens its grip,
and something deeper settles.

Nothing to do.
Nothing to become.
Just resting in the stillness —
as the light slowly, naturally returns. ✨
