Have been away from posting for a while, but here is our next Mudra of the series!

This is Ganesh Mudra. Ganesh is a Hindu deity who removes obstacles. Use this mudra in your practice to lift your spirit and relieve tension and stress.

To practice: bring your palms to touch, then swivel your hands so that your fingertips point towards opposite elbows.

Start with your right palm facing your heart. Bend your fingers and slide your hands across each other until your fingers lock. Repeat ok each side.

Deepen the pose by chanting: ‘Om Ganapatayei Namaha’

Om being the primordial sound of the universe and Namaha meaning name

Jnana Mudra or Gyan Mudra

In our Mudra series this week we look at the Hasta Mudra (hand gesture) called Gyan Mudra.
This Mudra is also known as Chin Mudra, Adhi Mudra or Prana Mudra. Also known as Dhyan (meditation) mudra because it happens to be an effective accompaniment to meditation due to its calming effect on the mind.
In this hand gesture you join together the tips of the index fingers and thumbs of both hands, keeping the other three fingers stretched straight and slightly apart.
Place the hand gestures so formed on the respective knees, palms facing upward with the back of the palm resting on the knees.
Relax the palms, close your eyes and concentrate on your breath. .
When practiced palm upwards we get insight, with palms facing downward we gain a sense of grounding🙏🏽

Hello everyone! By popular demand, I’ve started a Chakra Healing Meditation Class on Wednesday’s from 11-11.45 at the Balanced Bodies Holistic Center. This is a 45 min guided meditation which focuses on the 7 Chakras (energetic centers) of our body. This meditation includes breath work, chants and visualizations. This meditation leaves you feeling calm and rejuvenated. The chants and breath work focus on your vagal tone promoting stimulation of the parasympathetic nervous system which makes us calm and relaxed. Kali Mudara
This is our second Mudra in our Mudra series. This is a Yoga hand gesture for courage, inner strength and power.
The Mudra is known to possess the power of the Goddess it is named after Kali. A reincarnation of Goddess Durga Kali is the most powerful form of Shakti.
This Mudra is done by interlocking fingers of both hands except the index fingers which are joined pointing upwards - here one is manifesting the sword of destruction of negative energy, emotional setbacks and trauma. The left thumb sits over the right as the left side is considered female energy.
This Mudra is also known as Ksepana Mudra and Maha Kali Mudra. Pointing the index finger toward the ground and chanting ‘OM Krim Kali’ invokes the blessings of Ma Kali asking for her protection and guidance. When pointing toward the sky it is to awaken Kundalini Shakti 💕

Mudra Series

I have often been asked by students the meaning and significance of Mudras in Yoga.
So I have decided to bring to you a series of posts where we will look at different Mudras their meanings and significance.

Starting with Anjali Mudra
This Mudra or Hand Gesture is where your hands meet at heart center.
It is a posture of composure, symbolic of returning to one’s heart.
It is commonly used when one is greeting or saying farewell.
It’s is also used to symbolize humility and non-attachment when initiating or completing an action.
Known as a “heart sealing” mudra, Anjali mudra connects the left and right hemispheres of the brain when used.
When done properly the palms are not flat against each other….
The knuckle’s at the base is the fingers are bent and creating a little space between the palms and fingers of the two hands resembling a flower yet to open, symbolizing the opening of our heart 💜

Just a quick reminder of our Self Care offerings😊

Monday: Yoga Basics 10am-11am in Kildare.

Wednesday: Beginners Yoga 10am-11am at the Balanced Bodies Holistic Center in Newbridge

Both of these classes are for beginners, who are just starting or those who wish to rekindle their relationship with Yoga.

Thursday: Vinyasa Flow 8.30pm-9.30pm. This is an online class via zoom. This is for intermediate - advanced students.

Classes are €70 for a block of 6 classes or €15 per class.
