What happens during an EMDR session?

What is Emdr? It is a structured, evidenced based, psychotherapy that helps process traumatic memories by targeting the way the brain stores them. In essence moving memories that have been incorrectly stored to a more functional store in the brain.

I am an accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist with over 25 years experience working in mental health. I have been working for the HSE for most of my career but have made the exciting (and nerve wracking) decision to expand my private psychotherapy practice. I am based on the Tipp/kilkenny border and am currently providing online CBT and/or EMDR therapy with the aim to be back providing face to face therapy soon. I have a particular interest in trauma work but also extensive experience in anxiety, mood, OCD and perinatal mental health issues.
