NoeleenTyrrell Yoga Hi, I’m Noeleen, a certified Anusara Yoga teacher, trainer, therapist, and coach.

🌟 Don't miss out on my upcoming events! tinyurl.com/noeleentyrrell

I’m honoured to be the founder of Ard Nahoo Yoga School in Ireland, where I’m devoted to yoga education and supporting the growth of my students. With over 30 years of experience in yoga and natural health, I’ve been fortunate to train in the US, UK, Europe, and Ireland. I’m a Certified Yoga Therapist with IAYT and also hold certifications in massage and craniosacral therapy. My teaching style is

intuitive, helping students experience meaningful transformations and health benefits. I’ve had the privilege of training many wonderful yoga teachers and, as a coach, I aim to assist others in finding their own paths and wisdom. My journey with yoga began in Rush, Co. Dublin, but it was in San Francisco that I truly fell in love with the practice. Yoga has been a grounding force for me, aiding in various life challenges like back problems, home births, and managing a busy clinic and studio. I initially practised Iyengar Yoga, but discovering Anusara Yoga in 2010 was a turning point that profoundly shaped my practice and teaching. I’m deeply grateful to all my teachers and continue to learn and grow. In 2001, I founded Ard Nahoo Eco Retreat in County Leitrim, which received global recognition as one of the top retreats. In 2022, I decided to move on from the eco retreat, and now Ard Nahoo Yoga School travels with me, offering retreats, workshops, and trainings both locally and internationally.

One of the loveliest parts of teaching yoga over a long period of time is watching community or Kula form almost accidentally.

People come for completely different reasons.

Back pain.
Stress.
Curiosity.
Fitness.
A difficult period in life.
Something they can’t quite name yet.

And then the months and years pass and suddenly people know each other’s stories. Some of the folks in my Tuesday night class have been there for 2 decades!!

They’ve witnessed pregnancies, losses, injuries, divorces, recoveries, ageing parents, career changes, grandchildren, difficult winters and good periods too.

There’s something very reassuring about continuing to practice alongside other human beings through all of that.

Not perfectly.
Just consistently.

That, to me, feels deeply valuable.

Looking forward to gathering again this weekend for the Align & Awaken workshop in Cavan.

We’ve all heard the saying that meditation is simple, but not easy.

And I think that’s true.

The simple part is that you don’t need very much.

You don’t need to be good at it.
You don’t need a perfect setup.
You don’t need silence or incense or an hour of spare time.

You just need yourself, a few minutes and the willingness to sit.

But of course, that’s often the hardest part.

Actually carving out the time in a busy life can feel surprisingly difficult. I know many of you already feel like even your asana practice is squeezed in between work, family, responsibilities and exhaustion.

Life is full.

But honestly, even 5 or 10 minutes can make a difference.

And often once we do sit down, time softens a little. The resistance beforehand is usually worse than the practice itself.

Then comes the next hurdle: staying there.

The mind wanders.
One thought leads to another.
A sound, a memory, a worry about tomorrow — and suddenly we’re completely gone into some story.

This is the bit people think they’re failing at.

But this is the practice.

You simply notice.
And come back to the breath.

Then again.
Back to the breath.

Simple.
Not easy.

Maybe give yourself 5 or 10 minutes today and see what happens.

One of the things I appreciate more and more as a teacher is students wanting to understand why something works, not just what the pose looks like.

A lot changes when people begin working with the biomechanical principles of Anusara Yoga.

Practice becomes more stable.

People stop forcing themselves so much.

The breath becomes more informative.
There’s usually less confusion afterwards, not more.

And as we get older this matters.

Mobility is wonderful, but support and organisation matter too.

At the Align & Awaken workshops we slow things down enough to explore that properly.

Not in a rigid “right/wrong” way, but in a curious and practical way.

We look at how the body functions.
How breath supports practice.
How alignment can create both strength and ease.

23rd & 24th May
11am–1pm
Align Yoga Studio, Cavan Town

And Saturday generally ends with lunch and chats in Datses afterwards, which is honestly part of the workshop at this point.

What social media often misses about yoga is not that there’s too much asana, we are Hatha yoginis afterall.

It’s that we rarely get to see what practice actually looks like over time.

Most of us aren’t doing handstands on beaches.

We’re practicing in local halls, spare rooms, studios with slightly questionable heating and occasionally on a sticky mat beside a radiator that’s far too warm.

And honestly, that’s where the real practice happens.

Not in peak poses, but in the quieter experience of learning how to pay attention.

Some days the body feels open.
Some days it doesn’t.
Some days the mind settles.
Some days it absolutely does not.

But over years of practice something begins to change anyway.

People breathe differently.
They react differently.
They become a little steadier with themselves and with other people.

Asana is absolutely part of that. In my experience it is the foundation out of which we can build a deeper relationship to our inner life and build a Sadhana that is strong, personal and transformative.

But it’s usually the consistency of practice — rather than the performance of it — that changes people most.

One of the things I find myself repeating often in class is this:

Consistency is the key to progress. A little practice on a regular basis is more powerful than a lot of practice sporadically..

Yoga is a process.

What changes us is rarely dramatic or a ‘once off’. It is usually the less glamorous act of returning again and again. Watching the breath. Paying attention. Learning to stay present with ourselves a little longer each time.

Performance is visible.
Practice is not always.

Over time, the deeper shifts happen away from what can be seen from the outside.

The body steadies.
The mind softens. The mind becomes known.
Awareness deepens.

This is where yoga gradually becomes something lived rather than something simply done.

If you are looking for ways to deepen your practice further, there are also weekly classes and retreat spaces continuing over the coming weeks:

One of the things that happens after a while in yoga practice is that you grow more curious as the process becomes more familiar.

You become more interested in understanding what you’re actually doing.

Why something works.

Why one small adjustment can completely change your experience of a pose.

Why awareness matters as much as flexibility or strength.

That’s really what these weekend workshops and the Anusara Yoga Immersion are about.

Time to turn up the gas a little - challenge yourself

To practice, ask questions, explore alignment and understand the deeper principles underneath the shapes.

Not in a dry or overly technical way — but in a way that helps the practice make more sense in your own body.

These workshops are suitable for curious students, teachers and anyone who wants to immerse themselves more fully in practice.

There’ll be strong practice, good learning, plenty of laughs and, hopefully, everyone going home feeling more connected to themselves and their yoga.

You’d be very welcome to join us.

Awakening the Heart: Teaching the Path of Meditation begins tomorrow and there is still time to join.

If meditation has been something you’ve wanted to deepen, or something you’ve been circling around for a while, this is an opportunity to step into it more fully.

Meditation is not an optional extra in yoga.

Traditionally, it was the centre of the practice.

This training explores meditation as a lived experience. Not just theory, but a steady and practical way of working with awareness, attention and presence both personally and in teaching.

Together we explore foundational meditation practices, teaching frameworks, and ways to integrate meditation more meaningfully into practice and classes.

For teachers, trainees and dedicated practitioners who want to develop a more grounded and consistent relationship with meditation.

Online
May 15th & 16th
Friday 4pm – 7pm
Saturday 9am – 12 noon GMT

Recordings available if you cannot attend live.

12 CPD Points with ASHY, YAP & YA

Aging changes the body.
That is inevitable.

But how we meet those changes matters.

Over time, I’ve become more interested in practices that support strength, stability and clarity for the long term. Not just physically, but mentally and emotionally as well.

Yoga can play a profound role in this when it is taught intelligently.

This training explores how to adapt and teach yoga practices that genuinely support the realities of aging. Practices that are safe, effective, strengthening and sustainable. Not about limitation, but about creating greater resilience and quality of life through every stage.

As more of us live longer, the question becomes:
how do we continue living well?

This is what we explore together.

There is something different that happens when you step away from the usual pace for a full day.

More space to settle.
More time to stay with the practice.
More room to actually hear yourself think.

This retreat day is an opportunity to immerse more deeply in yoga without rush or distraction. A day of practice, reflection, good company and grounded conversation held in the quiet of the Sligo hills.

Not about escaping life.
Just returning to it a little more clearly.

One of the teachings we’ve been exploring in the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali recently is the idea of samskaras — the subtle grooves or pathways formed in the mind through repeated thoughts, emotions and experiences.

The road you know is the road you go.

Some samskaras are positive and supportive.
Others keep us stuck in patterns we no longer need.

The fascinating thing is that many of these patterns operate below conscious awareness. We think they are simply “who we are”.

One of the great gifts of meditation is we get to observe our thoughts and patterns

Meditation does not stop thoughts completely, but it helps us become aware of the mental and emotional pathways we repeatedly travel.

And awareness changes everything.

Because once we can recognise a pattern, we have far more choice in whether we continue feeding it.

Meditation helps us return to centre.
To steadiness.
To awareness itself.

If you’d like to deepen your meditation practice — or learn how to share meditation more confidently within your yoga teaching — my online Awakening the Heart Meditation Teacher Training begins soon.

Details are on my website.

There comes a point where simply attending class is no longer enough.

You want to understand what you are doing.
Why it matters.
What actually supports the body and steadies the mind over time.

The Align & Awaken workshops create space for that kind of practice.

Not rushed.
Not performative.
A more considered way of working.

As part of the 100 Hour Anusara Yoga Immersion, these sessions allow time to explore the foundations underneath the practice. To ask questions, refine understanding, and work with greater clarity.

Over time, this changes the relationship you have with practice itself.
It becomes something more stable. More intelligent. Something you can genuinely rely on.
