As we return to work with heavy hearts, we would like to thank everyone for the lovely messages and the support over what has been a very difficult time. The huge crowds who visited our home and came to the funeral was testament to Timmie’s character, a gentleman whose kindness new no bounds.
Timmie co-founded Modular Panel Systems Ltd. in 1977 (48 years ago!) with his brother Pat, setting up a small production facility on the Cloone Road. The company seen two expansions one in the 1980's and another in 2001 purchasing an additional adjacent vacant building which now serves as the company’s head office and panel production while the original building serves as door production. He was very proud of the expansion which saw the introduction of a new state of the art purpose-built line for panel production.
He was our leader, but he was always our friend. He brought positivity and honesty. He employed so many people over the years. As we heard from so many people 'he gave me my first job' or 'he gave our business our first contract'. He valued people and he valued their work ethic. He faced some hard times over the years but always fought hard to keep the show going. His good humour, sound judgement and steady support enriched our team and our work. His leadership, wisdom and integrity made a lasting contribution to the success and development of this company.
A carpenter by trade he was truly gifted. He could turn his hand to anything. He never sat down; there was always a job to do! At home he brought the same gentle approach. He loved his family, his farm and his community. He never forgot where he came from. His most treasured moment was winning the 1980 Leitrim Senior Title with his beloved Cloone GAA Club. He was honorary president of Cloone Agricultural Show, and the day was always an important date in the family calendar. He was a sponsor, steward and presented the Modular Panel Systems cup to the overall champion of the show in the cattle section every year. In the parish he was always first to step up to help in any way he could.
Our hearts are broken but we will hold on to the lovely memories. As Timmie would have said ‘the show must go on’ and as we navigate this road, we assure you we will continue to carry on Timmie’s great work and wishes for the business.
“A golden heart stopped beating, hardworking hands at rest,
It broke our hearts to see you go; God only takes the best”
A month’s memory mass for Timmie will be held in St. Marys Church Cloone on Saturday 22nd of November at 8pm.
