Meath Civil Defence Civil Defence is a volunteer based humanitarian organisation dedicated to assisting the community

Civil Defence was established by the Government in 1950 under the Air Raid Precautions Acts of 1939 and 1946 and the Civil Defence Act of 2002

Training programmes include:

* First Aid
* Rescue skills
* Radio Communications
* Map Reading skills
* Fire-fighting skills
* Welfare and catering
* Radiological monitoring and sampling
* Search skills
* Water search using boats and kayaks

It's been another activity filled weekend for volunteers starting on Friday night with first aid cover at St. James Church Athboy 180th anniversary concert featuring Mary Duff. Saturday saw two CFR skills demonstrations in Blackwater Park and Simonstown GAA club while members of out boat team assisted our colleagues in Kildare at the Irish Open Golf on the river Liffey in the K Club. Sunday saw medical cover at two colour runs in St. Colmcilles GAA in Bettystown and in Dunboyne in aid of the Arch Club. Thank you to all our volunteers who were involved in the weekend duties
