There’s a quiet power in these hands.
They press, stretch, knead—
but more than muscle and skin,
they reach the aches people don’t always speak of.
The silent sorrows stored in shoulders,
the grief that curls up in hips,
the weight of unspoken stress resting in the back.

Being a massage therapist is sacred work.
It’s an honor to be trusted with someone’s pain,
to feel the subtle shifts as tension begins to release—
like watching a winter thaw in slow motion.
In that stillness, in that surrender,
healing happens.

But healing is not without cost.

These hands get tired.
The body, though trained and practiced,
takes on the residue of others’ burdens.
Some days, I feel like a vessel—poured out again and again—
replenishing only to be emptied once more.
It is beautiful. It is exhausting. It is real.

People see the peace we help restore—
but not always the strain behind our smile,
the sore wrists, the aching lower back,
the emotional labor of holding space
for every story that shows up on the table.

Still, I wouldn’t trade it.
Because within every session,
there’s a moment—a breath, a sigh, a thank you—
that reminds me why I began.

Healing others is part of healing myself.
And though the path is heavy at times,
it is lined with meaning,
woven with purpose,
and lit by the quiet, steady glow of compassion.

To all my fellow therapists:
You are seen.
You are needed.
You are doing sacred work.
Take care of your hands, your heart, your whole being.
You cannot pour from an empty vessel.
But when full—what a gift you are.

Curious About Massage Therapy, But Feeling a Bit Unsure? Let’s Talk About It.

It’s completely natural to feel hesitant about receiving a massage—especially if you’re unsure about the level of undress involved or what to expect during the session. At its heart, massage therapy is a deeply personal, therapeutic experience, and your comfort is just as important as the physical benefits it can offer.

Massage therapy is a hands-on practice that supports the body’s natural healing processes. By working with muscles, connective tissues, tendons, and ligaments, massage can help:
• Reduce stress and anxiety
• Ease pain and muscle tension
• Enhance circulation and flexibility
• Support recovery from injuries or physical strain

There are many types of massage to suit your individual needs. These include:
• Swedish massage – gentle, flowing strokes for relaxation
• Deep tissue massage – focused work on deeper muscle layers
• Sports massage – targeted for athletic performance and recovery
• Trigger point therapy – addresses specific areas of tension

Your Comfort Comes First

One common misconception is that you need to be fully undressed to benefit from a massage. In reality, that’s entirely up to you. You may choose to remain fully clothed, undress to your comfort level, or remove all clothing beneath the drape. No matter what you choose, your privacy and dignity are always respected. You will be securely covered with a sheet and blanket at all times, with only the area being treated uncovered briefly and professionally.

At the beginning of each session, you’ll have a private conversation—often called an ā€œintakeā€ā€”with your therapist. This allows us to understand your wellness goals, health history, and any preferences regarding pressure, areas of focus, and how much clothing you feel comfortable removing.

Massage That Meets You Where You Are

There are also modalities that are traditionally performed fully clothed, such as:
• Thai massage – assisted stretching and rhythmic pressure
• Shiatsu – Japanese acupressure-based therapy
• Craniosacral therapy – gentle, subtle techniques focusing on the head and spine

Ultimately, massage therapy is about creating a space for healing, relaxation, and connection with your body—in a way that honors your boundaries. Whatever your comfort level, there’s a style and approach that can support your well-being.

If you’re ready to begin your journey toward healing and wellness, I invite you to contact me at (910) 553-0978 or visit www.corrinelmbt.com to schedule your session.
