One year ago today- my dad was diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer (a bleeding ulcerated tumour 4/5 the size of his bowel) which had metastasised. His bowel screen had returned as ‘normal’ a few months prior to this.

As someone who has a background in the medical field, I had him dead and buried by Christmas time. I took videos, photos and cherished what I thought would be my last few months with him……

…..He embarked on his journey of engaging with western and eastern medicine. Chemo. Reflexology. He threw in an abundance of stubbornness into the mix also!
By April, his scans showed a huge response to the treatment meaning he could be offered surgery to remove what was left of the cancer.

In August, he underwent an eleven hour operation under the beautiful hands of Mr Jurgen Mulsow. The operation was a success. He had a few post operative complications and today, almost four weeks later…..

…..and one year to the day of initial diagnosis, he walked out of the Mater CANCER FREE!!!
